Sydney rally against Israeli aggression 22-7-06

Sydney rally against Israeli attacks on Lebanon & Palestine

The streets were filled with throngs of people -- many from Sydney's Lebanese and Palestinian communities -- as 20,000 people marched on July 22 to protest the bitter injustice of Israel's latest offensive against the people of Lebanon and Palestine.

Indignant that media reports continuously refer to Israel's aggression as ``self defence'', countless home-made placards carried pictures of dead, injured or dying children with messages like ``Is this the terrorist you were looking for?''.

The protest gave expression to the genuine and passionate concerns of a community that establishment media and state and federal governments have done their best to terrorise and intimidate with ``anti-terror'' laws and a cultivated culture of fear.

The rally was organised by the Australian Arabic Committee in Solidarity with the People of Lebanon and Palestine, supported by peace groups, unions and other community organisations.

Speakers included Shiite Islamic Council representative Kamel Moslemani, Lebanese community leader Abraham Constantine, Sheik Taj Aldin Alhilali, Andrew Ferguson from the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union, Greens Senator Kerry Nettle, Pip Hinman from the Sydney Stop the War Coalition and Julia Irwin and Linda Burney from the ALP.

The march to the US Consulate, which took up both lanes of George Street and several blocks, was loud with Lebanese women and youth leading popular chants of "One, two, three, four, Stop bush stop the war'', ``Down, down George Bush", and "Hey, hey Israel, how many kids have you killed today?'' and "Free Lebanon, Free Palestine, Israel out"

The crowd stayed on at the US consulate long after the speeches had ended, clearly happy with the community response.

Keysar Trad, from the Islamic Friendship Association, told Green Left Weekly that more rallies, and bigger ones, would be needed if Israel didn't pull back from its invasion of Lebanon.

in other cities too

Arab communities have not mobilised in this scale for years in this rally organised by 30 community organisations and the Stop The War Coalition. Police and right-wing shock jocks had "predicted" a violent demonstration. There was a lot of anger in the crowd but it was well-marshalled so the police could not find an excuse to attack it (indeed today they were forced to praise the organisers!).

In Melbourne, there were 8,000 marching, in Adelaide also 600-700 demonstrated, in Brisbane 500 and in Canberra 300. Comrades chaired or spoke at the last two as well.

Could be the rebuilding of the anti-war movement in Australia...

Could be the rebuilding of the anti-war movement in Australia...

Nope.

The Prophet Moses is blessing the people of Israel

The prophet Moses (who is also a Moslem prophet) had taken the Israelites to the land of Israel.  He will curse all Arabs who wish bad on Israel.  He will block their way into heaven.  The Israelites are Gods children, the children of Abraham.

We are all God's children.

We are all God's children. We are human beings; we are all the same. Israel must stop the aggression, stop killing. It is not the answer.

Which cable channel is that

Which cable channel is that movie on mate?

Wake up to yourself mate!!! People are dying and NO ONE on which ever side has a DIVINE right to kill in the name of God!!!

More information

Don't forget to stop using your computer, whose chips were developed in Israel. Stop using your mobile phone as well, it too was developed there.

I mean, you wouldn't want to be a fucking hypocrite would you?

Is that right, or are you stretching the truth again?

I find it hard to believe that Israel is responsible for
every make and model of PC and mobile phone produced in the world.

Smart shoppers who want to send a message, should avoid
ALL products with “MADE IN ISREAL” , “Product of Israel”,  and choose items from alternative countries who
have respect for innocent human beings.

Several of Hezbollah's

Several of Hezbollah's missiles narrowly missed IBM and Microsoft principla R&D facilities in Haifa.

Not to worry though. Why don't you stick to using all the wonderful innovation that's come out of the Arab world.

Oh... That's right. There isn't any. They are far too busy oppressing their own people and blaming Jews for everything.

One day you should get cancer. Then you can boycott all the cancer treatment  technology and medication developed in Israel.

Zero

Nazi-hunter, for once in your snivelling little life you might of been close to being correct....although I did say close!

The Arab world is in fact responsible for inventing Zero - yes that's right...Zero. In fact the scientific world would not exist had it not been for zero. All mathematical formulae are based upon the factor of zero and also the term Algebra comes from a great mathematician in early Arabic history. The Indo-Arabic number system was brought to europe by Fibonnaci in the early 11th century and without which the world would not exist as we know it today...communications, medicine and pharmaceuticals, building technology and even space travel.

So there you go! so what have the Zionists invented throughout history??? I know you don't like to take credit for inventing the holocaust, but there must be something??? maybe starting the second world war through terrorist actions in Germany and the reichstag???

BFD...

Well yes. There was the introduction of the number zero by Muhammad Bin Ahmad in the year 967.

Mazal Tov!!!!

I don't suppose there's been a lot more in oh, say the last thousand years?

what have the Zionists invented throughout history???

Oh. nothing much...

After they lost the war, the Japanese set about building a society and prospered. After losing several wars, the Arabs continue to choose death over life. They are quite content with achieving ZERO.

stupid line of argument

Like Nazi(hunter)

Yes, you wouldn't want to be a fuckin' hypocrite like Nazi(hunter), who uses a handle that supposedly declares his/her opposition Nazism and regularly swoops in the defend and endorse Israel's Nazi-like treatment of Palestinians and Arabs.

A question

Can anybody who was there advise whether any of the protest was aimed at Hezbollah?

I doubt it.

These demonstrations are always one-sided in denouncing Israel, but not the Arab terrorists.

They aren't "peace rallies", but demonstrations in support of one side in a two-sided struggle.

Zionist are ABOVE protesting, arent they?

Hezbollah have not killed 300 plus innocent civilians, have they?

More than that, I think

Hezbollah have probably killed thousands of civilians over the time of their existence. Lebanese as well as Israeli.

So, did you protest the murders by Hezbollah? Or are you just a Jew-hater like the rest?

Murderers

Hezbollah have not killed 300 plus innocent civilians, have they?

Yes, they have!

Ask any Christian Lebanese, now living in Australia because of it, about Hezbollah.

You could be excused for not knowing however, Islamist murder is seldom reported unless someone fights back.

I bet you also didn't know what's been going on in Somalia this week, or Thailand. I'll give you a hint..... It had nothing to do with Jews.

So, now that you have been corrected. Please clarify whether you support Hezbollah, or are simply uninformed.

I agree

I agree with you, Nazi Hunter and Xenu. Unfortunately that might get my comments deleted. But I do believe this was started by Hezbollah. It will be finished by Israel. On the other hand I am not pleased with the treatment of Palestinians and I believe Israel should be seeking a peaceful resolution to that situation.

They killed more than 300

They killed more than 300 people in Israel, in Lebanon, in Argentina. They are criminals.

Hizballah were there.

I didn't now that Australia is also packed with Jihadists

I feel pity for the common australians

I saw someone there supporting Nazi-hunter

I attended with my wife and young daughter we were moved by the emotions obviously felt by the other attendees who have family members still in Lebanon.

I was particularly happy to see supporters of Nazi-hunter, who held banners depicting pictures of murdered women and children by Israeli shells and bombs with very large letters saying NO to Nazi-regimes; with the swastika and the star of David crossed out.

I fear though that the statements by Xenu, Nazihunter, and anonymous are not by people calling for peace, understanding or tolerance of all of the world citizens, but are driven by a more sinister belief that Nazi's are anyone who is not on Israels side; because obviosuly Zionists are the superior race. This very narrow mindset and well fermented hatred is exactly what causes conflicts of this type. It is possible that the above trio had very disturbed childhoods and the messages they espouse on this site are further indications of the failing of the mental healthcare system in this country. It is high time that the governments take steps to care for these sick people, ensure they take their medication as it is obvious that care in the community is failing the tragic lives of these three people.

Do you support terrorists who murder Jews?

Because you don't condemn those terrorists. You only condemn their victims.

The Nazis would love you, James; you hate the Jews as much as they do.

you must need medication if you don't support Hizbollah

No its not insane at all to attend a mass rally to promote the right of Hizbollah

to kidnap Israelli soldiers and bomb civillian targets indiscriminately, while opposing

the right of the Israeli government to retrieve its soldiers.

If Australia does not want

If Australia does not want any disturbance and possible terrorist acts, it should shut its border for Muslims. They are not human beings but animals.

Sheik Hilaly

So Sheik Hilaly was there - is that the same Sheik Hilaly who has been fired for denying the holocaust?

Yeah great choice of person to have on your team, guys. Shows that you're fair and balanced.

Welcom to the Sydney IMC Zionist Hour.

A...aand here are our hosts, Nazi, Xenu and not by least. Step..

Isn't it obvious that the

Isn't it obvious that the ultimate fault of the dead civilians in Lebanon lies with Hetzb'Allah? The Israelis do their best to avoid casualties, including dropping leaflets warning the populace away, which, by the way, informs Hetzb'Allah in some cases, and uses precision weapons. Their terrorist counterparts deliberately builds their infrastructure in civilian areas, conceals weapons and munitions in houses, and brings rockets just outside to fire. Game's up, Hetzb'Allah and your supporters in the streets. The world is on to your tricks. These "protests" are just part of the war; they play to those unable to distinguish rhetoric from reality.

Hetzb'Allah , Hezbolla =Palestinian Freedom fighters!

It is obvious the dead civilians in Lebanon, were killed by
Israel, by weaponry from the US.

Why is it so hard for you to accept the CRIMES COMMITTED BY
ISRAEL with the use of EXCESSIVE FORCE, on the pretext of defending itself?

Why do you wish to portray Israel as civilised society, when
you know full well, it was only recently( in the South of Lebanon), that they
have dropped leaflets, and at other times bombed civilians without such warning.

We all know from the Iraq war and this war that those
“precision weapons”, are not always precise, but why would you care how many
innocent civilians die.

Has it occurred to you Hezbollah uses exsisting
infrastructure to house its weaponry, HQ, as  it doesn’t have the US funding( like Israel),  to build this infrastructure.

Why do you persist with this LIE, as if Israel would allow
such structures to be built in the first place!!

Games up Zionist, the world has seen your true identity, and
no amount of  PR will wipe away this
TERRORIST act for years to come!

I’m afraid you’re the one who is unable to distinguish
rhetoric from reality.

If they're Palestinians, why are they Lebanese?

Your title makes little sense. Hezbollah is a Lebanese organisation and forms a part of the Lebanese government. It isn't Palestinian at all.

It's obvious that you support any old terrorists, as long as they're murdering Jews.

How convenient for you to forget Israel illegally occupies Arab

This is the crux of why there is this war, Israel will not
surrender illegally occupied Arab land.

Buts easier for Zionist to muddy the issue with “ Arabs don’t
want Israel to exist”, bull crap

If there was no justification for Hezbollah,  like Israel’s oppression of the Palestinian
Arabs, do you think we would be where we are now?

Arabs don't want Israel to exist.

That's written into the constitution of Hamas.

The terrorists will not stop murdering Jews, until there are no Jews left.

You support the terrorists.

Israel is an entity that was

Israel is an entity that was created by displacing and killing of others. It is an illegal entity.

Occupation is a Bullshit Red Herring

This is the crux of why there is this war, Israel will not surrender illegally occupied Arab land.

Well, I guess that explains why Islamists in the last month blew people up in Mumbai, Ethiopia, Thailand.

LEBANON: ISRAEL'S CRIMES CONTINUE...

Saturday July 22, 2006

T
hey put the 86 corpses into plain wood caskets. Many were just big enough to fit a small child

Dozens of dead buried in temporary mass grave until fighting ends

In the driveway of Tyre's Government hospital yesterday the sour smell
of rotting flesh mingled with spray paint as the chief coroner wrote
the names of the dead on their coffins.

Empty wood caskets, which had been neatly stacked by a large white
freezer truck - one of two being used to store the bodies of many of
those killed during Israel's bombardment of south Lebanon - were now
being filled; 86 of the 150 corpses in the truck were to be buried in
the afternoon.

The continuous drone of Israel's Apache gunships could be heard
over a clamouring crowd that had gathered to witness the burial. As an
old man nailed coffins shut, friends and family members of the victims
wept or stared at the bodies, loosely wrapped in plastic or bloodied
blankets, as they were passed out of the truck...

Once sealed, the coffins were placed along the length of a wall
outside the hospital each underneath a large black painted number...

Watching the burial was Qasim Shaala, the chief medic at Tyre's Red
Cross offices. "Most of the casualties are women and children," he
said. "They [Israel] are not letting us save them. Ambulances aren't
allowed into areas after they are shelled."

For the past four days, Mr Shaala and his team of 50 volunteers
have been ferrying people from the Red Cross centre in Tibnin, near the
border with Israel, to Tyre. Earlier that day Mr Shaala described the
dangers and difficulties his ambulance workers had faced.

"We are being bombed as we try to get to the victims, and when we
try to bring them back. Many of the roads are destroyed so we have to
take detours through the orchards and farmland."

GAZA: ISRAEL KILL...

The
five Palestinians died when Israeli shells hit their house in Gaza
City's Shijia district on Friday morning, medics and Hamas members said.

The Israeli attack killed the Hamas fighter and four of his relatives, including his mother and two of her grandchildren.

Nablus attacks

Israel also continued a vast operation in the West
Bank town of Nablus on Friday, where troops destroyed almost all the
local Palestinian Authority headquarters, sources on both sides said.

Ahmed Anab, a 38-year-old resident whose house is
adjacent  to the local muqataa (government office compound), was killed
outside his home from the force of explosives detonated by the Israeli
army, a medical source said. www.english.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/05E02016-CB2-4607-8FCE-AFF13863B720.htm

PEACE RALLY IN TEL AVIV

Quick Report from
the Israeli Peace
Front

The peace movement in Israel has pulled out all
stops to end this mad war.  Lots of groups are active, and we had a big
joint demonstration last night - at least 5,000 people (though the media
reported 2,500).  Marching through the streets of Tel Aviv with signs, "End
the War", "End the Occupation" felt like a relief after the roar of pro-war-talk
on all the media.

Women in Black held vigils last Friday
throughout Israel.  The reactions from the street were quite violent and
the police were out in numbers keeping onlookers (and on-shouters) at bay.
After our vigil, we read the list of 55 (!) locations [see list below] that held
solidarity events this weekend.  Some were Women in Black and others
organized by allied groups.  We felt greatly encouraged by this
international solidarity.

I end with a short note from Hannah Safran of
the Haifa vigil of Women in Black.  The women were shelled during the
vigil, but they returned to complete it.  Later that day, under the newly
formed "Women Against War", they again left their homes to protest.

UN: UNEVEN CALL

For the UN to
'deter' Hezbollah and not Israel is nonsense, writes Tariq
Ali.

In
his last interview, after the 1967 Six-Day War, the historian Isaac Deutscher,
whose next-of-kin had died in the Nazi camps and whose surviving relations lived
in Israel, said: "To justify or condone Israel's wars against the Arabs is to
render Israel a very bad service indeed and harm its own long-term interest."
Comparing Israel to Prussia, he issued a sombre warning: "The Germans have
summed up their own experience in the bitter phrase 'Man kann sich totseigen!'
'You can triumph yourself to death'."

In
Israel's actions today, we can detect many of the elements of hubris: an
imperial arrogance, a distortion of reality, an awareness of its military
superiority, the self-righteousness with which it wrecks the social
infrastructure of weaker states, and a belief in its racial superiority. The
loss of many civilian lives in Gaza and Lebanon matters less than the capture or
death of a single Israeli soldier. In this, Israeli actions are validated by the
US...

Way Forward

Way Forward For the Middle East

Beside the Similarities Between Nazis and Israelis one must look at the alternative peace proposals for the Middle East. The traditional diplomates, states-mans, experts have been trying to make peace over there and they failed miserably! Therefore, we have to look for some new ideas and ways to bring peace in the region. For an example, Israel has demonstrated the fact that it does not understand the language of peace and due to whatever reasons or grounds it has became a law unto itself. In such a scenario, arming the people of Lebanon and Palestine are an equitable proposition as such a situation would compel all parties to sit down and work out a peaceful way for their own existence.

Remember, Hitler invaded Poland because “the Polish government failed to stop cross boarder incursions in Germany”! Now, Israel invading Lebanon for the same types of cross boarder incursions the Lebanese government failed to stop!!

Israelis and their supporters are the most gutless wonders as they only attack and invade people with no army, air force and navy. On one side, the Israelis are armed to the teeth and the other party got a few Kalashnikovs hidden inside their undies! All in all, actions of Israelites exonerated disgusting Adolph Hitler and his Nazi followers.

bunch of cowards, wimps ugly

bunch of cowards, wimps ugly insignificant human beings who are a shame to the human race

bunch of cowards, wimps ugly

bunch of cowards, wimps ugly insignificant human beings who are a shame to the human race

Better way forward for Arabs, Israeli Jews, diverse supporters

All stakeholders both sides and their supporters need to accept as painful as it is that Israel will always exist for the practical reason to quote a Hizbollah spokersperson last week '250 nuclear weapons.'

Okay. Just take a deep breath. Count to ten. Take another and count again. Tell your friends.

I say painful. Painful for Israeli Jews and supporters because they have to give up the falsity that their Zion is at risk of non existence. No it isn't. Not since that nuke capacity. Not till the end of time at least for civilisation as we know it. It is an open secret of global geo politik. H knows it. Iran must know it. Israel knows it. All the West intel know it.

Painful because they have to give up the psychosis that there will be another Holocaust and therefore they are forever a victim people. No they aren't. The only new holocaust is the one we are going to share, God and Allah forbid, in nuclear weapon exchange finishing us all.

Iran surely is pursuing a nuke weapon balance like the Soviets and USA, like India and Pakistan. But demonstrably Israel is always here.

Painful reality too for the two H's and their supporters Hamas and Hisbollah because its over. Israel is a reality that they as mature people must deal with. And vice versa. We seem to be unwilling witnesses to miliatry extremist tantrums at that immovable nuke weapon fact, and indeed abuse of nuke supremacy of Israel currently.

And why do I dare from my humble view speak of huge moral questions? Because there is no human species, no ecology in nuke weapon war. It's the end of the world we are ednging up to here. Not just Lebanon, not just a regional war. A terrible time. A broad view.

Speaking as a trained ecologist turned activist lawyer, I fear for 2 billion years of life evolved on this bubble. If you have any sense you will too. It's that serious.

The challenge for Israel's lobby is to let go the false claim to existence at threat.

The challenge for the Arab lobby is to let go the claim post WW2 global upheaval, that Israel in 2006 can be undone for better, for worse. Not without consent it can't. Real consent which as all know is never a quesion of force, and inconceivable at this juncture in a world of religous subjectivity.

So we have the terrifying job of community based negotiation for justice and for peace across factional and sectarian lines. The leaders have failed so the People must lead. Can we do it? Can we save our future? I really don't know. Actually I doubt it. In all anthropological time great regimes have transformed their surroundings, crashed and burned. They didn't have our study of history, communications and science of course. But humans seemed to be programmed, including transformation via nuke weapons. There is a choice but our shared human history is against us.

Can we do it? I hope against hope we can do it but I don't expect it. I expect the other with every red sunset, red sunrise actually. The grim foretelling. A planet of apes sort of future.

Lebanon's help

Where is Lebanon's help in trying to assist Israel in moving out Hezbollah who are a terrorist group around the world?

The situation is akin to the National Party of Australia invading Indonesia and Indo fighting back against Australia.  Would you expect Indo to find a diplomatic solution?

Will this comparison be discussed at the forum as well or will it be a one-sided argument with the very respectable Keysar Trad.

Israel "using chemical weapons"

The motivations of Israel seem incomprehensible.  Here are some articles about chemical weapons.

Belgian doctor: Israel using chemical weapons

20 July 2006

BRUSSELS — The Israeli military is using chemical weapons during its bombing of Lebanon, a Belgian-Lebanese professor claimed during a press conference in Brussels on Thursday.

The press conference was organised by the secretary of the Tripoli
archbishop, Monsignor Jean Abboud. The Belgian professor of Lebanese origin,
Bachir Cham, is the head of a hospital in Lebanon.

"The bodies don't look like they normally do. After an explosion there were
no traces of blood loss or subcutaneous haemorrhages [bruises]," Cham said
via mobile phone direct from Beirut.

"The hair and sometimes the beard and the moustache remained intact. I found
no traces of the pressure wave by the explosion. The colour of the skin was black like a shoe, but the skin was not carbonised or burnt."

Eight mummy-like bodies were taken to the hospital on Monday and photos
taken of the corpses. Two children's bodies showed no indication of wounds
resulting from an explosion.

"I have the impression that a poisonous product penetrated the body via the
skin. Death follows with almost 100 percent certainty," the professor said.

A heart specialist, Mohammad Farran, said letters had been sent to the UN
and the EU drawing their attention to the alleged use of chemical weapons by
Israel in Lebanon.

Meanwhile, Arab, Lebanese and Belgian peace activists protested for fourth
consecutive day in front of the EU headquarters in Brussels against the
Israeli attacks in Lebanon.

Placards carried by the protestors read: "Israel today is committing a

GAZA, July 10 (UPI) -- The Palestinian health ministry accused Israel of
using a new type of banned explosives containing poisonous material.

A ministry report released Monday said testimonies from surgeons in
Palestinian hospitals indicated that "all 249 casualties inflicted by the
Israeli war machine during the operation on Gaza which started on June 27
resulted from shrapnel of new and developed shells and explosives which

the existence of poisonous material in their bodies caused by Israeli

It also urged international organization to put pressure on Israel to stop
using internationally banned arms against inoffensive and unarmed civilians.

Palestinian injuries suggest Israel is using chemical weapons in Gaza
Report, Ma\'an, 11 July 2006

The Palestinian ministry of health revealed on Monday that the Israeli army
has used a new type of explosive in its offensive on the Gaza Strip. These
explosives contain toxics and radioactive materials which burn and tear the
victim\'s body from the inside and leave long term deformations.

The ministry called upon the international community and the humanitarian
organizations to send an international medical community to examine the
victims and confirm the truth about these banned weapons that Israel appears
to be using.

The ministry showed that most of the injuries which the hospitals receive
result from huge explosions which cause burning and severing of limbs,
including the inner parts of the body. This causes long term deformations.

It is added that doctors in Gaza have been forced to amputate limbs of at
least 12 injured Palestinians as a result of injuries sustained in the
current Israeli offensive on the Strip.

Palestinian injuries suggest Israel is using chemical weapons in Gaza
Report, Ma'an, 11 July 2006

The Palestinian ministry of health revealed on Monday that the Israeli army
has used a new type of explosive in its offensive on the Gaza Strip. These
explosives contain toxics and radioactive materials which burn and tear the
victim's body from the inside and leave long term deformations.

Israel to Hit Lebanon by Ground

Beirut, Jul 21 (Prensa Latina) Israel officially announced Friday a ground
offensive against Lebanon, where already more than 350 Lebanese have been
killed, mostly civilians, and a thousand others wounded, in ten days of
offensive.

The latest announcement was made by Israeli Minister of Defense Amir Peretz,
who, however, ruled out an invasion and temporary occupation like in 1982,
since it would seemingly imply a high human cost, according to observers.

Nearly ten Israeli soldiers have been killed in incursions into South
Lebanon, where Tel Aviv says most of the Hezbollah militants, who hold
captive two Israeli soldiers since 13 days ago, are concentrated.

The Israeli military invasion of the small neighboring country made on
Friday the Lebanese minister of Defense, Elias Murr, announce that the Army
will be deployed all over the national territory.

Murr denied any coordination between his country´s Army and the Islamic
militia.

The victims of Israeli artillery and air strikes are mostly civilians, and
have unidentified wounds which have a strange smell and black colour in the
skin.

Medical sources are convinced that Israel is using white phosphorus missiles
and bombs in its attacks against Lebanon. Those weapons are banned by
international agreements.

Israel´s warplanes Friday extended their attacks to Bekaa valley, east
Lebanon, and Baalbeck city, creating panic among Lebanese residents who were
running away by road.

Europe Capitulates to American -Israeli aggression

Rome conference on Lebanon

Appeasement 2006: Europe capitulates to
American-Israeli aggression

The international conference in Rome held Wednesday to
address the crisis precipitated by the Israeli attack
on Lebanon ended without a call for a ceasefire.
According to numerous press accounts, US Secretary of
State Condoleezza Rice stood virtually alone in
opposing any language in the conference statement
suggesting that the Israeli onslaught, which has
already caused close to 500 civilian deaths and
destroyed much of the country’s infrastructure, should
be ended any time soon.

According to the International Herald Tribune:
“European and Arab governments, as well as Secretary
General Kofi Annan of the United Nations and Javier
Solana, the European Union foreign policy chief, also
had pushed hard for an immediate cease-fire, but lost
as Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice dug in. She
stuck to the position that agreement on an ‘enduring
peace’ had to be in place before the parties were
called to stop fighting.”

Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora, attending the
meeting along with senior diplomats from the US,
Britain, France, Spain, Germany, Canada, Russia,
Turkey, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Jordan, as
well as United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan,
delivered an impassioned and eloquent speech to urge
an immediate halt to hostilities.

Sinoria asked: “Is the value of human life less in
Lebanon than that of citizens elsewhere? Are we
children of a lesser God? Is an Israeli teardrop worth
more than a drop of Lebanese blood?”

Saying his country was being “cut to pieces” by
Israel, he vowed to begin legal proceedings against
Israel, implying that Israel was guilty of war crimes
and saying he would seek war reparations for “the
barbaric destruction that [Israel] has inflicted on
us.” He ended his remarks with a quote from the Roman
historian Tacitus, which he said describes what Israel
is doing to Lebanon today. “They created a desolation
and call it peace.”

According to one press report, diplomats said there
was visible emotion around the room after Siniora’s
comments. Rice, however, was not moved. At a press
conference following the meeting, she mentioned in
passing Siniora’s “very impassioned” speech, and went
on to reiterate her opposition to a suspension of
Israeli attacks on Lebanese cities, towns and
villages, as well as her insistence that the purpose
of any international force in southern Lebanon would
be to disarm Hezbollah.

The Rome conference demonstrated both the lawlessness
of the US and the impotence of the European
governments. Everyone in the meeting room knew full
well what Israel and the US were up to in Lebanon.
Only the day before, Israel had fired a precision
missile at a long-standing and plainly marked United
Nations post on the Lebanese side of the border,
killing four UN monitors.

Rice’s role at the conference made crystal clear that
the war is being waged by Israel, but the US is the
power pulling the strings.

Yet not one of the participants had the principle or
courage to stand up to Rice. Why was there no
ceasefire resolution? Because the US was against it
and the US had the only vote that counted.

The entire European bourgeoisie, and the United
Nations as well, once again demonstrated their
impotence in the face of US imperialism. Europe is
prepared to defy the US when it comes to matters of
trade—that is, to haggle over money—but in the face of
massive and historic crimes it exhibits complete
cowardice. It is, in fact, complicit in these crimes.

This is true of all sides and shades of the official
political spectrum—so-called “left” governments and
parties no less than their right-wing counterparts.
Thus the Italian center-left government of Romano
Prodi, which includes in its coalition two parties
that arose out of the shambles of the Italian
Communist Party—the Democratic Party of the Left and
Communist Refoundation—agreed to host the meeting,
which was set up at Washington’s request to
rubberstamp the US-Israeli war policy. Massimo
D’Alema, a veteran of the Communist Party and current
foreign minister, was particularly obsequious toward
the American secretary of state.

Then there was the spectacle of Kofi Annan, who had
the day before accused Israel of deliberately
targeting his UN monitors, sitting beside Rice and
announcing his acceptance of Israel’s perfunctory and
cynical apology.

The brutal US-backed war against Lebanon, and the
unwillingness or inability of the other major powers
to oppose it, mark a milestone in the breakup of the
post-World War II framework of international law. The
world is witnessing once again a descent into the type
of untrammeled imperialist lawlessness and violence
that characterized the 1930s and culminated in the
second world war of the twentieth century.

Siniora’s futile plea to the Rome meeting recalls a
similar event that occurred almost exactly 70 years
ago: the speech of Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie
before the League of Nations in June of 1936. Selassie
appealed to the world body to halt the bloody invasion
of his country by fascist Italy, but the League of
Nations did nothing.

Whereas in that period it was the drive of Japan for
regional dominance in Asia and of Germany for
domination over Europe that spearheaded the onset of a
global catastrophe, today the role of chief aggressor
is played by the United States, which is bent on
establishing hegemony over the entire world. For
Washington, the reorganization of the Middle East and
Central Asia is a critical component of this quest for
global supremacy. The American ruling elite sees
Israel’s striving for regional dominance as something
it can utilize in realizing its own grand, and
demented, design.

For decades following the Second World War, the
capitulation of the major powers to German imperialism
in the 1930s—their refusal to respond to the Nazis’
flagrant and violent assaults on international law—was
condemned as “appeasement.” But the same pattern has
reemerged no less forcefully today, in the form of
Europe’s appeasement of the United States.

The outcome of the Rome conference underscores the
fact that the United States is seeking to settle the
crisis in Lebanon on the basis of the military
destruction of Hezbollah. This is part of a deliberate
and long-standing plan worked out between the US and
Israel to destroy all popular resistance in Lebanon to
US domination of that country, to be effected by
turning it into a virtual protectorate of Israel.

The suppression of Hezbollah, considered by Washington
to be allied with Syria and Iran, is, in turn, seen as
critical to American imperialism’s goal of eliminating
those two regimes, which are deemed obstacles to US
domination of the oil-rich Middle East and Central
Asia.

Hezbollah’s July 12 border raid, in which two Israeli
soldiers were captured, was merely the pretext for
setting this imperialist operation into motion.

These facts are being systematically and deliberately
obscured by a media propaganda blitz which aims to
turn reality on its head, presenting the aggressors as
the victims and the victims as the war-mongers. Terms
are stripped of their real meaning and used to confuse
and conceal, rather than inform.

Thus, “diplomacy” is applied to the US government’s
policy of issuing ultimatums and demanding that
Hezbollah and Lebanon accede to the war aims of
Washington and Jerusalem, under threat of
annihilation. Rice’s mission to the Middle East and
Europe, whose first and foremost purpose was to keep
the war going and give Israel as much time as possible
to wipe out the Lebanese resistance—as well as the
Palestinian resistance in Gaza—is described as a
“peace” mission.

The ubiquitous term “terrorist” is applied to all
those who resist US and Israeli domination. What else,
however, is Israel doing with its military onslaught
but terrorizing the Lebanese people?

It is by now increasingly obvious that the term
“terrorist” is flung against whomever the United
States chooses at any given point to target for
political subversion or military attack. Once the
label has been applied, all further discussion of the
history, policies or social makeup of the country or
group so branded is treated as illegitimate. The US
government can always rely on a supine and compliant
media to demonize the latest “terrorist threat,” even
when the targeted organization or country was not so
long before one of the “good guys.”

In the current case, the absurdity of this all-purpose
propaganda gambit is underscored by the fact that
Hezbollah is a bitter political opponent of Osama bin
Laden and Al Qaeda.

All of this is designed to prevent the American people
from grasping the lawless and bloody character of US
foreign policy—a policy that is supported by the
entire political establishment, the Democrats no less
than the Republicans. It is difficult for broad masses
of people to grasp fully the scale of American and
Israeli violence, and the brazen character of their
aggression.

For decades the US postured as the defender of
international law. In the post-World War II period, it
generally supported ceasefires in regional conflicts,
something that was considered the basic precondition
for a negotiated political settlement.

That period is over. What increasingly predominates is
the unrestrained assertion of imperialist ambitions,
in which the United States plays the leading role.
That is the essential significance of the Bush
administration’s doctrine of preemptive war. As the
current slaughter in Lebanon demonstrates, for the
American ruling elite war is not only a legitimate
tool of foreign policy, it is the preferred means of
asserting its interests.

The problem that the US and Israel face in their
current offensive is that they underestimated the
depth of resistance in Lebanon. The Israeli military,
armed to the teeth by the US, has suffered
considerable casualties in its ground operations in
southern Lebanon, where it faces a determined and
disciplined opponent in Hezbollah, one, moreover, that
enjoys mass popular support.

The plans of the US and Israel for a short, bloody war
have evaporated. However, that only increases the
likelihood that Israel, at the urging of the US, will
carry out a colossal intensification of violence in
Lebanon. This has already been signaled by Israel’s
deliberate bombing of the UN monitoring post.

Neither the US nor Israel can afford a military
quagmire that punctures the myth of Israeli
invincibility. Such a development would encourage the
popular resistance in Iraq, Afghanistan and throughout
the Middle East and Central Asia, placing in doubt not
only Israel’s regional supremacy, but the existence of
the Arab bourgeois regimes in Jordan, Saudi Arabia and
Egypt upon which both the US and Israel rely.

It would have no less explosive consequences within
Israel itself. The effort of the Israeli ruling elite
to hold the working masses in thrall with the
supposedly omnipresent threat of annihilation by the
Arabs is complimented by the depiction of the Israeli
military as the only guarantee of survival. A serious
crack in that image could provide an outlet for social
tensions that are simmering just beneath the surface
of one of the most economically polarized societies in
the world.

There are already signs of mounting opposition within
Israel to the current war, and that opposition will
grow not only as a result of the rising toll of
Israeli military and civilian deaths, but also as
Israeli workers and youth begin to comprehend the
scale of the havoc, chaos and death being inflicted on
the Lebanese people in their name.

The great and tragic lesson of the 1930s was that the
catastrophe of war could not be averted by appealing
to one or another imperialist power, or allying with
the bourgeoisie of any nation, but only through the
revolutionary mobilization of the working people
against militarism and the capitalist system that
breeds it.

The only force that can prevent another global
catastrophe is the international working class. Today,
once again, this lesson comes to the fore, and it must
become the basis for the building of a new
international socialist movement of the working class.

Israeli Cowards

Israeli Cowards

Israeli cowards have been using F18s, Apache helicopters, tanks, machine guns, cruise missiles, naval ships etc. etc. against kids in kindergartens and frail old women residing in nursing homes! These disgusting Israelis have been crossing the borders of Lebanon and the occupied Palestine to murder innocent civilians and kidnapping thousands of Lebanese and Palestinians for a long long time. Ironically the wider world population under the Zionist feet are too scared to say anything against Nazi Zionist Israel. Such silence and lack of opposition to these war crimes and genocides makes all of us guilty.

The Hezbollah captured two Israeli terrorists inside the Lebanese territory and therefore they have acted properly and correctly to defend their own homeland. I think, only a love child of Adolph Hitler would invent a reason to condemn the Hezbollah rather than Nazi Zionist Israeli Terrorists and their supporters and sympathisers. Australian Prime Minister John Howard’s latest media release supporting Israeli aggressions in Lebanon and Gaza under the false pretext of the capture of two Israeli terrorists from Israel is factually incorrect and morally repugnant.

War criminal Israelis also bombed ambulances, hospitals, mosques, power plants, water treatment plants, sewerage treatment plants, roads, bridges, schools and many many types of civilian infra structures. Their recent cruel and deliberate murders of several United Nation officials are not a new phenomenon. Because the wider world in general is under Israel’s feet and thoroughly zionised! Like all other occasions, Israeli war crimes and genocides will be rewarded on this occasion too!

Recent United Zionist States of America and Zionised United Kingdom sponsored barbaric atrocities in Gaza and Lebanon is making it easier for Bin Laden and his types.  They have been looking for faster computers to process new and eager recruits across religions and regions! Everyone knows, “America is under Israel’s feet”. They also know that the corporate governments of USA, UK and Australia would sell and kill their own children for their Zionist masters! They also do not differentiate between Christians and Muslims! “If you are an Arab and not Israeli or an Israelite, then you may be worthy to be disposed of.”

Remember, Israel not only received the green light to start and continue its barbaric war crimes and genocides! Israel has been financed and even fuelled by the “peace loving West”!! Surely, Hitler is laughing in his grave.

Beside the Similarities Between Nazis and Israelis one must look at the alternative peace proposals for the Middle East. The traditional diplomats, statesmen, experts have been trying to make peace in the Middle East and they failed miserably! Therefore, we have to look for some new ideas and alternative ways to bring real and lasting peace in this region. As an example, Israel has demonstrated the fact that it does not understand the language of peace and for whatever reasons or grounds it has became a law unto itself.

In such a scenario, arming the people of Lebanon and Palestine is a pragmatic proposition as such a situation would compel all parties to sit down and work out a peaceful way forward for their own existence. In recent history the Pakistani nuclear bomb was used to ensure peace between India and Pakistan. Similarly, as a consequence of the illegal and immoral invasion of Iraq North Korea became nuclear for it’s own safety and survival.

Remember, Hitler invaded Poland because “the Polish government failed to stop cross border incursions in Germany”! Now, we have Israel invading Lebanon for the same types of cross border incursions in a similar way to what Hitler claimed.

Thus, “diplomacy” is applied to the US government’s
policy of issuing ultimatums and demanding that
Hezbollah and Lebanon accede to the war aims of
Washington and Jerusalem, under threat of
annihilation. Rice’s mission to the Middle East and
Europe, whose first and foremost purpose was to keep
the war going and give Israel as much time as possible
to wipe out the Lebanese resistance—as well as the
Palestinian resistance in Gaza—is described as a
“peace” mission.

The ubiquitous term “terrorist” is applied to all
those who resist US and Israeli domination. What else,
however, is Israel doing with its military onslaught
but terrorizing the Lebanese people?

It is by now increasingly obvious that the term
“terrorist” is flung against whomever the United
States chooses at any given point to target for
political subversion or military attack. Once the
label has been applied, all further discussion of the
history, policies or social makeup of the country or
group so branded is treated as illegitimate. The US
government can always rely on a supine and compliant
media to demonize the latest “terrorist threat,” even
when the targeted organization or country was not so
long before one of the “good guys.”

In the current case, the absurdity of this all-purpose
propaganda gambit is underscored by the fact that
Hezbollah is a bitter political opponent of Osama bin
Laden and Al Qaeda.

All of this is designed to prevent the American people
from grasping the lawless and bloody character of US
foreign policy—a policy that is supported by the
entire political establishment, the Democrats no less
than the Republicans. It is difficult for broad masses
of people to grasp fully the scale of American and
Israeli violence, and the brazen character of their
aggression.

For decades the US postured as the defender of
international law. In the post-World War II period, it
generally supported ceasefires in regional conflicts,
something that was considered the basic precondition
for a negotiated political settlement.

That period is over. What increasingly predominates is
the unrestrained assertion of imperialist ambitions,
in which the United States plays the leading role.
That is the essential significance of the Bush
administration’s doctrine of preemptive war. As the
current slaughter in Lebanon demonstrates, for the
American ruling elite war is not only a legitimate
tool of foreign policy, it is the preferred means of
asserting its interests.

The problem that the US and Israel face in their
current offensive is that they underestimated the
depth of resistance in Lebanon. The Israeli military,
armed to the teeth by the US, has suffered
considerable casualties in its ground operations in
southern Lebanon, where it faces a determined and
disciplined opponent in Hezbollah, one, moreover, that
enjoys mass popular support.

The plans of the US and Israel for a short, bloody war
have evaporated. However, that only increases the
likelihood that Israel, at the urging of the US, will
carry out a colossal intensification of violence in
Lebanon. This has already been signaled by Israel’s
deliberate bombing of the UN monitoring post.

Neither the US nor Israel can afford a military
quagmire that punctures the myth of Israeli
invincibility. Such a development would encourage the
popular resistance in Iraq, Afghanistan and throughout
the Middle East and Central Asia, placing in doubt not
only Israel’s regional supremacy, but the existence of
the Arab bourgeois regimes in Jordan, Saudi Arabia and
Egypt upon which both the US and Israel rely.

It would have no less explosive consequences within
Israel itself. The effort of the Israeli ruling elite
to hold the working masses in thrall with the
supposedly omnipresent threat of annihilation by the
Arabs is complimented by the depiction of the Israeli
military as the only guarantee of survival. A serious
crack in that image could provide an outlet for social
tensions that are simmering just beneath the surface
of one of the most economically polarized societies in
the world.

There are already signs of mounting opposition within
Israel to the current war, and that opposition will
grow not only as a result of the rising toll of
Israeli military and civilian deaths, but also as
Israeli workers and youth begin to comprehend the
scale of the havoc, chaos and death being inflicted on
the Lebanese people in their name.

The great and tragic lesson of the 1930s was that the
catastrophe of war could not be averted by appealing
to one or another imperialist power, or allying with
the bourgeoisie of any nation, but only through the
revolutionary mobilization of the working people
against militarism and the capitalist system that
breeds it.

The only force that can prevent another global
catastrophe is the international working class. Today,
once again, this lesson comes to the fore, and it must
become the basis for the building of a new
international socialist movement of the working class.

i hope that all the jewish

i hope that all the jewish people would at least give the palestinies a good time and let them have there own freedom and that everyone would live a peace and nice life because no one knows when the day of judgement would come and everyone would be punishet 4 wut they did in there life

The arabs are reasonable,

The arabs are reasonable, gentle educated people, if the jews had their way we would be all living in prisons & be tattoed, its getting that way with media, computers mobile phones, your foxtel & a variety of other crap we are bombardered with, perhaps hitler didn't do a good enough job & he was really right all along, basically the idea is to live simply, after germany lost the war it became a place of corporate buildings & it lost its fairy tale village atmosphere.

Many parts of the middle east are beautiful. they might not have all the brand names & all that junkfood but they live well & have good lives, mussolini warned against the rise of the corporate state & how it could imprison humanity & hitler listened to him closely.. does everything have to be made in big factories, whats wrong with small factories, what about small business as opposed to multinational business.

hitler didn't do a good enough job

The arabs are a gentle, educated people who enjoy to live life simply, mussolini warned hitler about the rise of the corporate state & hitler listened closely & instigated the holocaust to stop the jews from achieving their crazy goals of world domination, it was a shame that germany lost the war & germany became a horrible corporate state after the war & lost its fairytale village atmosphere. If the jews had their way we would be all living in prisons & be tattoed & forced fed junkfood while being brainwashed by foxtel, internet & our only contact with other humans would be via sms & all woman would have to buy their sperm from the sperm bank.

This is slightly ridiculous.

This is slightly ridiculous. It's not as though Israel is surrounded by Mahatma Gandhi type pacifists. A lot of Israelis also disagree with much of the policy coming from the top, but, like you and me, what can they *really* do about it? A two state solution is nuts. It won't work. I'm not a right-wing fruitcake but I really think a transfer (like that between India and Pakistan) is probably the best solution to this problem. With a massive Marshall aid type plan to help Palestinians settle in Jordan etc. Israel does need to reign in the religious wackos who want to go beyond the Jordan but an annexation of the territories is a good idea.  The thing is, they have to be decisive about it and not try to do it sneakily or brutally (like the Nazis with Cazechoslovkia and Poland).  It's not in Israel's interests though to try and pit the Christian world against the Muslim world. A lot of people have woken up to what some extremists are up to vis-a-vis this and the only result can be/will be this huge, horrible antisemitic backlash. Then again, sometimes I think that is what they want so that everyone in the diaspora will have no choice but to move to Israel.
