On Wednesday 7 November around 200
people, successfully began the first ever bi-national protest camp in
the borderlands of Mexico and the United States.

indigenous Cucapa people from Baja California, and others from many
states of Mexico and parts of the world.

Australia accused of Refugee Refoulement in Deportations to China

"Advocates are heartsick about the fate of three men sent back to China", says Pamela Curr of the ASRC. "We have heard nothing from these men, we do not know if they are dead or alive. Because of the grave risk of yet another disappearance, a UN Human Rights Communication was sought to stay the removal of a fourth man on Monday. This was successful." says Curr.

Government Deporting Man Certified Medically Not Fit to Travel

FRIDAY 17th August 2007 5.15pm
A man is currently in a Sydney airport cell awaiting deportation. His legal team was notified at 4.15pm that his 417 was refused and that he was being removed. At the time of this notification he was already in a holding cell at the airport. We have a written medical report stating that "This man is not fit to travel".

This is old style DIAC back in action- no one is too sick to travel, no life precious enough to respect.

An injunction is underway to stop this injustice.

West Papua: Indonesian police Accused of Endemic Abuse and Violence

A new report by Human Rights Watch has accused Indonesian police in West Papua of endemic abuse and violence particularly in the remote Central Highlands region. The region is effectively closed to outside observers, including journalists and human rights observers. The 81-page report, “Out of Sight: Endemic Abuse and Impunity in Papua’s Central Highlands,” is the result of more than a year of research that documents daily abuses by police officers and other security forces in the mountainous and remote region. Many Papuans continue to call for independence from Indonesia and attempt to raise the Morning Star flag at regular ceremonies and events throughout Papua.

Eight West Papuans arrested

West Papua Morning Star FlagEight West Papuan men and women have been arrested at the conclusion of a four-day Papuan Tribal congress meeting in Jayapura. They have been taken to the police station where they are being interrogated .

The reason the police gave for the arrest of the eight men and women is that the West Papuan national flag, the Morning Star was used in the opening ceremony of the conference. The flag was waved by a group of traditional dancers from Manokwari named "Sampari" which means Morning Star in the Biak language.
