About Checkpoint Zero
"Have you ever been involved in something that takes you over against your own good judgment?"
Checkpoint Zero is Sidetrack's latest contemporary stage play.
Set in modern day Israel/Palestine we meet Sivan, a young female Israeli soldier on checkpoint duty. She meets Hani, a Palestinian university student who must travel through the checkpoint to get to his classes. Both are trapped behind a 60-year-old wall that separates them and yet they are strangely dependent on each other.
Where will their relationship lead and what will they learn from each other? Is there hope for a long lasting friendship or will their differences and interests force them apart?
Checkpoint Zero is a story of the effects of conflict on current generations and the dilemmas involved in inheriting wounds from the past.
Conceived by Don Mamouney and Assad Abdi and written/directed by Don Mamouney, Checkpoint Zero shatters the perceptions of one of the world's longest lasting conflicts.
