1. Forum with Australian and Chilean scholars;
and the screening of Chilean film at the NSW Parliament Theatre, Macquarie
Street, Sydney.

The
Salvador
Allende Centenary Committee-Sydney was formed on 26 January 2008.
This is a broad collective of individuals and community organisations which
will be commemorating the Centenary of Dr. Salvador Allende’s birth, former
Chilean President who died in 1973 in a US-backed coup d’ etat.

Salvador Allende was born on 26 June 1908 in
Chile. His life as a doctor, Senator, Minister, and
President turned Allende into a universal symbol of democratic and libertarian
conscience for Chileans and the oppressed people of the world.
