Anti -war Hiroshima and Nagasaki month:Imperialist war But ;"Who Started the Blitz"?

Between 1940 and 1945, sixty-one German cities with a total population of
25 millions were destroyed or devastated in a bombing campaign initiated
by the British government. Destruction on this scale had no other purpose
than the indiscriminate mass murder of as many German people as possible
quite regardless of their civilian status. It led to retaliatory bombing
resulting in 60,000 British dead and 86,000 injured.

Flooding, Bagot Road, Darwin

Just thought I'd share these pics with you of Bagot Road, Darwin.
The wet season here has been very wet indeed lately. I suspect there
are a fair few Indy readers with a soft spot for Darwin.

Qantas 767 from Darwin Lands at 350 kph

I was travelling to Sydney on QF829 this morning from Darwin to Sydney. The take-off seemed odd with the plane levelling out at what seemed way too soon. The flight was OK but coming in to land, the screen was left on showing the plane's speed. Everyone was talking about how we were coming in too fast. The landing speed for the 767 is 200kph or less, depending on weight being carried. The plane landed with a big bump, too close to the end of the runway. The speed shown on the screen was 350kph.

PACIFISTS ARRESTED - by Katie McRobert

Three Christian pacifists were taken into custody this morning (Wed 13 Feb) as they prepared for a planned 2pm vigil at the Supreme Court steps in Darwin. A fourth member of the group (Bryan Law) was arrested yesterday afternoon.

The Pine Gap Four, convicted last year under the untested Defence (Special Undertakings) Act of 1952, will next week contest the DPP’s appeal against the leniency of their sentences in the Darwin Supreme Court.

'Pine Gap Four' taken into custody (Jefferson Lee)
