St Francis of Assisi

It seems the regulation about poles being longer than one meter was relaxed for priests (others were forced by police on the day to snap their's down to size). The saint in the banner is Francis of Assisi, a saint of the Christian church associated with nature always depicted outdoors with birds and animals sitting peacefully near him. St Francis of Assisi
This was written by Francis of Assisi:
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
when there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
Grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood, as to understand,
to be loved as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned.
