Government Deporting Man Certified Medically Not Fit to Travel
FRIDAY 17th August 2007 5.15pm
A man is currently in a Sydney airport cell awaiting deportation. His legal team was notified at 4.15pm that his 417 was refused and that he was being removed. At the time of this notification he was already in a holding cell at the airport. We have a written medical report stating that "This man is not fit to travel".
This is old style DIAC back in action- no one is too sick to travel, no life precious enough to respect.
An injunction is underway to stop this injustice.

Injunction against Forced Deportation Granted
An injunction against removal was sought and given tonight at 9.05pm in
Court- ten minutes before this very ill man would have been forcibly
removed. Sometimes justice works.

Re: Government Deporting Man Certified Medically Not Fit to Trav
It is incomprehensible that DIAC requires an injunction to bring the medicial fitness of someone detained at their behest to their attention. Individual public servants should be held responsible for this kind of action.
