Why so extravagant?

Perhaps it could be scaled down?

I don't know what to think

It's a lot of fun and also a waste of money. I think what annoys me most is people going to Canberra or the N.T. and buying fireworks where it is legal, which they let off in their back yards in suburbia and which cause terror and injury to pets. They don't seem interested in fireworks like Catherine wheels, display tubes, flying spinners, fountains, ground spinners and Roman candles - just the ones that go off like a nuclear bomb.

It is waste of money plus

1. who pay this money? Taxpayers, We pay all the money for the fireworks.

2. Who benefit from fireworks ? The companies. With the New Year Fireworks we transfer money from the poor to the rich. One more smart way to enpty our pockets.

But It is not only money matter.

a. Instead the people to think for the past and new year, instead to think for the social, national or international problems they think and speak for the fireworks. It is a good way to turn people's interests from their real problems to fireworks.

 b. The cost on the environment is extremely high from the use of hundrends of thousands of cars.

Why do we not use all this money and people to plant trees and extent the life of our planet?

Why do we not use all this money to support little children who die from hungry worldwide?

For me this kind of evens indicate how immature and irrisponsible we are.

I certainly have. And it's hard to know what to do with it. You can only eat so much, and it's poisonous to dogs.

Re: Are the New Year Fireworks on Sydney Harbour a waste of mone

I watched the fireworks on TV. They looked spectacular. It would have been good to see them live. I think it's pretty hard to argue that they are a waste of money when a million people show up to enjoy the show.

Are the New Year Fireworks on Sydney Harbour a waste of mone

The truth is that I never watch TV, I prefer the Internet. I do not write what I like or not.  I write what I think is right to do even if I do not like it.

Tried to stay awake

But fell asleep in front of the T.V. Bugger.
