Anti-Terror Cops Force Closure of Palestine Exhibition

SMH reports Anti-Terror  police counter-terrorism operations confronted Leichhardt municipal library staff shortly before 8pm on Thursday 8th May 2008 in relation to an exhibition of photos, poems and articles. The exhibition organised by Friends of Hebron entitled "Al-Nakba" (meaning "day of the catastrophe") was to open on Friday but the display was removed friday morning.

A police spokesman said the officers had come only to "say hi" to Friends of Hebron members.

Shane McArdle, a Leichhardt council spokesman present when the decision to cancel was made, said some photo captions were deemed capable of causing anxiety and "undue angst".

But Ms Lawson said there was nothing alarming in the exhibition and that it merely highlighted the plight of many Palestinian refugees in Hebron, about 30 kilometres south of Jerusalem.

"We set up the exhibition at the library on Thursday night and the librarian ... approved the exhibition, and said that it could be seen by children and other people who into the library," said Carole Lawson, a Friends of Hebron member.

"The exhibition was taken down because it was about Palestine, the dispossession of Palestinians and what's going on in Hebron," she said.

the Australian Council for Civil Liberties, Terry O'Gorman, said "The terrorism unit's explanation [of coming to introduce themselves] is unacceptable," he said. "The fact that they turn up as a display is being mounted is entitled to be interpreted as a threat."

Mr O'Gorman criticised the library for being "too-ready [with] self-censorship".

Librarian Blogs

To educate and confront..? (Librarian Idol)

I'm annoyed because whilst the library staff, quite sensibly, refused to comment on the issue, the Mayor, Carolyn Allen, made the following statement:

"Being in a public library is different to being in an exhibition space. If you're in an exhibition space and someone knows they are going into the exhibition, they expect to be educated and confronted. But most people going into a library just want to return books."

No, of course we don't want to educate and confront people in a library. Because good literature clearly does not educate and confront its readers. And surely, we wouldn't want our library to encourage its users to think and talk and engage with challenging issues! Who needs free-flow of ideas when we can just consume???

Public library cancels exhibition (Libraries Interact)

I would be interested to know if other libraries have exhibitions coordinated by groups outside the library. Universities and school libraries often take student works for exhbitions, but is the development of exhibitions by groups in public libraries common? What policies do public libraries (and other libraries) have about exhibitions?

Leichhardt NSW - a new link with Hebron

At its April 2007 meeting Leichhardt Council voted unanimously to form a Sister City/ Friendship Agreement with El Khalil (Hebron) in Palestine. Councillors are to be congratulated for the compassion and solidarity with one of the most beleaguered cities in Occupied Palestine. The Council voted to investigate the establishment of a friendship or sister city relationship with the City of Hebron in Palestine along similar lines as that with Maliana in Timor Leste and report back to Council on the possibilities.

Anti-Terror Cops etc

thanks for posting. this story makes my blood boil.

Re: Anti-Terror Cops Force Closure of Palestine Exhibition

Thats fucked. The cops have achieved nothing but spread fear and discrimination.

Will closing the exhibition catch a criminal? uncover evidence for prosecution? form any part of any kind of investigation?

We don't need this, we don't need cops with guns intimidating our local libraries. If their intentions are so pure there are less intimidating and transparent ways to engage with the community.

Yeah, well, you go to the library to borrow books, not be confronted by crap

You think the plight of displaced people is crap? will be sure to factor that in when assessing your relentless cries of persecution.

PS Could someone who has a clue right an article or post some links?

Re: Anti-Terror Cops Force Closure of Palestine Exhibition

You, sir, are a victim of Muslim propaganda.

There NEVER was such a thing as a "Palestinian" people. The beloved Yassir Arafat was born in Egypt, and was enlisted by the communists to destabilize Israel. The PLO was created in 1965, after which the false moniker "Palestinian" was created.  The so-called Palestinians are nothing but arabs, who moved to British mandate Palestine in thelast 100 years----the arab population has HUGELY increased along with increases in the Jewish population of Mandate Palestine, and post-1948 Israel.

It is the Jews, who have lived in that region for 3,000 plus years who, in the last 100 years turned swamps, deserts and wastelands into a land of Milk and Honey. The arabs have done little, but complain and terrorisze.

The NAQBAH nonsense, is just THIS YEAR'S scheme to eliminate and illegitimize Israel. The muslim's goal is ELIMINATION of Israel. Not a bogus homeland. They are not even a distinct people. Further, the nation of Jordan (Transjordan) was created in 1920 as THE homeland for Arabs, and Israel was supposed to be the homeland for Jews. Jews are not even allowed to live in Jordan---to this very day, not even one Jew lives in Jordan.

Get your facts straight. You are either a plant, or are simply falling for this year's muslim (anti-West, anti-Christian, and anti-Jewish) propaganda. The goal is the elimination of ALL non-muslims. You, sadly, are a tool in their conquest.

The truth about Israel-"Palestine"

Thanks for taking the time to explain the Israeli point of view.

Some points here need answers

Hymie has made some interesting points. Are there any answers?

*Yasser Arafat was born in Egypt and enlisted to destabilize Israel

*The PLO was created in 1965, after which the false moniker "Palestinian" was created.

*The so-called Palestinians are Arabs who moved to the region in the last 100 years

*The Jews have lived in the region for more than 3,000 years.

*The Palestinians are not a distinct people.

*The nation of Jordan was created in 1920 as the homeland for Arabs.

*Jews are not allowed to live in Jordan.

Can someone help with verifying these historical events?

Re: Some points here need answers

You might want to check out the websites of www.camera.com  www.memri.com (org?) or www.honestreporting.com (org?). You will see what REALLY happened, and what was reproted. The islamists and their communist allies are deeply entrenched in the big media, and the HONEST reporters either have their stories  (or lives) quashed.

Be warned. Islam is a dangerous culture, which seeks world domination, unlike anything you could imagine. We have 1,300 years of ACTUAL PROOF of the grand plan.

Re: Anti-Terror Cops Force Closure of Palestine Exhibition

meh.

You, sadly, are a tool in their conquest.

So unless i embrace terror cops with guns in the local library im essentially implicated  in the fiendish plot to elimination of ALL non-muslims.

Fascinating, who would of thunked it.

Re: Anti-Terror Cops Force Closure of Palestine Exhibition

Congratulations to the wise police, who have NOT fallen victim to the pol terrorists, and their false claims of "whatever" in Hebron.

Hebron, is Judaism's second holiest city----place of the shrines of Isaac, Abraham, and their wives, and countless other holy sites in Judaism---sites which have consistently vandalized, burned, destroyed, and put off-limits to Jews (and Christians).

In spite of the HIGH LEVEL of holiness of Hebron to Jews and Christians, IN A foolish EFFORT to make peace with palestinian arab muslims (something that is VERY UNLIKELY), Israel gave near total autonomy to muslims in Hebron. Only a few streets are open to Jews, and the city is now almost entirely controlled by the plo authority. Business and building is THRIVING among arabs in Hebron. Things are great there.

Any claim by the plo enemy is just sheer, staged BS. I object to the muslims getting anything----other than one-way tickets OUT of Israel, but be that as it may, Hbron's muslims are doing very well. It is the JEWS and CHRISTIANS who were uprooted from Hebron that are the injured parties.

Ask some Christian who USED to live with muslims, how TOLERANT are teh muslim arabs. Maybe hey can show you some stabbing scars, or some missing fingers---done to them by muslims. WHY???? Because they are Christians and not muslims.

Get real. These people are an enemy, and YOU are their intended victim.

READ YOUR HISTORY. READ THE NEWS. You are in the gunsights of islam. Protect youselves now, or it will soon be too late.

In the gunsights of Islam

I agree with you there. These people don't realize how dangerous these
people are. It will take a major terrorist attack on Australian soil
before they wake up. All you gentle, non-violent communists,
socialists, environmentalists, feminists, anarchists.....militant Islam
would have you dead before you could say "Sydney Indymedia".

Re: In the gunsights of Islam

"All you gentle, non-violent communists,
socialists, environmentalists, feminists, anarchists"

oh,well looks like we are all safe here,

no actual fascists to worry about?

Re: In the gunsights of Islam (imminent danger)

What the naiive fools on the left, and those sympathetic to islam do not realize is that THEY will be the FIRST victims of a muslim caliphate.

I am a "Person of the Book." Technically a "cousin" of the muslims. I am hated and despised by them, but the aetheist, the libertine, the homosexual, the feminist, those who believe in freedom will be the first victims of islamist terror.

Look at how Hamas has already killed and brutalized the Christians in Gaza. Read the genuine news. Islam is in NO WAY related to any religion that we know. It is a way of life which tolerates NO OTHER RELIGION ----and is even MORE INTOLERANT of those w/o a religion.

ONE simple rule in islam ---- convert or die. As for muslims who seek to convert OUT of islam---the punishment is DEATH---with the killer being REWARDED.

I do wonder what will be of Barak Obama (US Presidential candidate). Born to a muslim father, and schooled in muslim schools. By islamic law he is 100% muslim. Obama claims that he converted to Christianity. Islamic law says that NO ONE can ever convert FROM islam. The penalty is death, and EVERY muslim is commanded to kill any cnvert from islam---without penalty.

I am worried and concerned for Obama. He is possibly in the gun sites of islam--if he truly is no longer a muslim.

HYGUY

Re: In the gunsights of Islam (imminent danger)

Here is one typical story from BBC about converting from islam. Oh, those churlish, loving guys.

Beware of a lack of knowledge concerning islam:

Mood hardens against Afghan convert

By Sanjoy Majumder

BBC News, Kabul

Increasing international pressure over the case of Christian convert Abdul
Rahman is forcing the Afghan government to play a careful balancing act between its Western
allies and religious conservatives at home.

Under the interpretation of Islamic Sharia law on which Afghanistan's constitution
is based, Mr Rahman faces the death penalty unless he reconverts to Islam.

"The Prophet Muhammad has said several times that those who convert from Islam
should be killed if they refuse to come back," says Ansarullah Mawlafizada, the trial judge.

"Islam is a religion of peace, tolerance, kindness and integrity.
That is why we have told him if he regrets what he did, then we will forgive him," he told the BBC News website.

'Deserves it'

The judge's comments are one indication of why President Hamid Karzai, who already has a
reputation for being pro-Western, faces some difficult choices.

The president has yet to comment publicly on the trial but statements put out by his
office point out that, while the government respects human rights and personal freedom, the
country has an independent judicial system.

Who is America to tell us what to do? If Karzai listens to them there will be jihad

Mohammed Qadir

Kabul resident

In practice, it is even more complicated.

The Afghan judiciary is dominated by religious conservatives, many with strong
religious ties or backgrounds.

Many feel it will be difficult for the president and the government to confront the
judiciary.

But the bigger problem confronting the president is that an overwhelming number of ordinary
Afghans appear to believe Mr Rahman has erred and deserves to be executed.

At Friday prayers in mosques across the Afghan capital, the case of Abdul Rahman and the
consequent international outcry is the hot topic of discussion and the centrepiece of sermons.

"We will not let anyone interfere with our religious practices," declared cleric Inayatullah
at Kabul's Pulakasthy mosque, one of the city's largest.

"What Rahman has done is wrong and he must be punished."

Public mood

The issue has not reached the stage of street protests, as was the case
recently during demonstrations against the publication in the West of cartoons satirising the Prophet Muhammad.

But there is little doubt that feelings run deep and can easily be inflamed.

"What is wrong with Islam that he should want to convert?" asks an agitated Abdul Zahid
Payman.

"The courts should punish him and he should be put to death."

Few were willing to listen to the growing condemnation in the West.

"According to Islamic law he should be sentenced to death because God has clearly stated that
Christianity is forbidden in our land," says Mohammed Qadir, another worshipper.

US President George Bush says he is "deeply troubled" by the case.

That cuts no ice with Mr Qadir.

"Who is America to tell us what to do? If Karzai listens to them there will be jihad
(holy war)."

Western backers of the Afghan government are pressing to create a country that is a
moderate and progressive democracy, able to turn its back on its Taleban past.

But analysts say they often forget that Afghanistan is a deeply conservative country
rooted in tribal traditions.

"This is a Muslim country. The state is Muslim, people are Muslim 99%," says
Judge Ansarullah.

"This is a very sensitive issue."

Afghanistan's constitution, written in 2004, enshrines the country as an Islamic state
under which no law can contravene Islam.

But it also protects personal freedom and respects international human rights conventions.

"It is a deliberately ambiguous document which tries to paper over the cracks and
contradictions of Afghanistan," says one Afghan law professor privately.

"But now the contradictions have risen to the surface."

Convert or die: you are right, Hyguy

You are so right. This support of Islam by the Left is very
confounding. Everything they espouse is the very opposite of that being
sprouted by the terrorists and their silent supporters. They can only
see the 'sins' of the United States and are in denial about the dozens
of other countries standing up against this dangerous Islamic movement
to take over the world. They would have appeased Hitler too, the damn
fools.

LIBRARY EXHIBITS SHOULD BE RELIABLE AND FACTUAL - NOT FALSEHOODS

While I an a stauch supporter of Israel, I would have NO PROBLEM in seeing a truthful and factual display of another point of view. After all, that is what libraries are about...multiple points of view, or sources of information.

Sadly, though, this nonsense about "NAQBAH" the TRAGEDY of Israel's existence, is nothing but the latest WELL-ORCHESTRATED and WELL-FINANCED way to use falsehoods to sway public opinion against Israel, and ultimately isolate and destroy Israel by NON-MILITARY means.

I am now in the USA. These same "poor, innocent Palestinains" ( a false, created name since 1965) are nothing but one weapon in a worldwide movement to eliminate ALL non-muslim people from the Middle East, and ultimately the World----a WORLDWIDE (muslim) CALIPHATE. Just as these people seek to destroy ISrael---by any means---they have wiped out Christians from most arab lands (IN spite of the fact that Christians have lived in these lands since the time of Jesus). The ONLY nation in the Middle East, where Christians are safe, equal, and flourishing is ISRAEL. Compare the PLIGHT of Christians in plo -controlled Gaza or Bethlehem to the HEAVEN in which Christians live, in Nazareth, Cana, Tiberius, Acre or any other town in ISRAEL.

Look at how the Christians have been killed and terrorized in Lebanon---in the last 30 years. ONLY those Christians in SOuthern Lebanon (protected by Israel) had a brief period of safety---which period ended when Israel sought to "make peace" with Hezbolla and Hamas (folowing promises of UN Peace-keepers-----peace-keepers that have been almost meaningless). Ask any Christian that used to live in Egypt, Syria, Jordan, or most other muslim arab nation.

The BEST THING to have happened to the phoney "Palestinians" was STAYING IN ISRAEL, post-1948. The arab standard of living, infant mortality, education level, level of freedom, life expectancy, etc. is BETTER for them in ISRAEL, than it is in any arab muslim country---this IN SPITE of 60 years of arab attempts to eliminate ISrael.

Libraries should be places of reliable information, or fiction labelled as fiction. CONGRATULATIONS to the wise Aussies who are willing to take an unpopular stand to boot out the well-financed and well-planned WORLDWIDE effort to isolte, villify, de-stabilize and de-legitimize ISrael, and push it toward destruction.

It is truly a shame that some of the DUMBEST PEOPLE you will meet are those with the most "advanced" academic degrees.

Congrats on a job well done by the anti-terror police.

How 'Nakba' Proves There's No Palestinian Nation

By:Steven Plaut

Over the past few years, the term nakba (also spelled naqba)
has become the favorite nonsense word of the Anti-Israel Lobby. Meaning
“catastrophe” in Arabic, it has been embraced by anti-Semites all over
the planet to refer to Israel’s creation, which supposedly imposed a
“catastrophe” upon the “disenfranchised Palestinian Arabs.”

      Of
course, the real catastrophe that befell the Arabs in 1948-49 was that
they failed in their attempt to annihilate Israel and exterminate its
population, and for that they paid a price.

Meanwhile, Nakba Nonsense has been spreading. Google finds over 85,000 web pages referring to Israel’s creation as a “nakba,”
and a Yahoo search finds even more than that. The anti-Israel web
magazine Counterpunch cannot mention Israel without using the term.
Even Israel’s leftist minister of education, Yuli Tamir, has orderedthat the nakba be taught as partof the curriculum in Israeli schools, where Israel’s schoolchildren can be taught to mourn their own country’s existence.

      (Tamir,
who was previously a professor of education at Tel Aviv University, is
so bizarre that in the summer of 1996 she published an article in the
Boston Review defending female circumcision in the Third World and
denouncing those who expressed disgust at the practice – see http://bostonreview.net/BR21.3/Tamir.html.)

      Nakba
ceremonies are now held each year by leftist professors at Israeli
universities who mourn the very creation and existence of their
country.

      The nakba
of the late 1940’s and 1950’s that befell large numbers of Jews living
in Arab countries who were suddenly expelled, persecuted, and stripped
of their property does not interest such people. Those Jewish refugees
made new homes in Israel and actually outnumbered the Palestinians who
fled.

Meanwhile, an urban legend has been fabricated about the origin of the term “nakba”
– a fairy tale that claims the word was a banner waved by Palestinians
starting in 1948, and that its very use shows how deep the roots of
“Palestinian nationality” go.

So here is a little current events quiz: What is the real origin of the term “nakba” and what is its original meaning?

      If
you get the answer to the quiz wrong – in other words, if you say it
refers to the events of 1948 – you are in very good company. I myself
would have flunked the quiz up until a few days ago, when I stumbled on
the correct answer. Not only does the bandying about of the “nakba”
nonsense word not point to any “depths of roots of Palestinian
nationality,” it proves the very opposite: namely, that there is no
such thing as a Palestinian nation or nationality at all.

The authoritative source on the origin of “nakba”
is none other than George Antonius, supposedly the first “official
historian of Palestinian nationalism.” Like so many “Palestinians,” he
actually wasn’t – Palestinian, that is. He was a Christian
Lebanese-Egyptian who lived for a while in Jerusalem, where he composed
his official advocacy/history of Arab nationalism. The Arab Awakening, a highly biased book, was published in 1938 and for years afterward was the official text used at British universities.

      Antonius
was an “official Palestinian representative” to Britain, trying to
argue the cause for creating an Arab state in place of any prospective
homeland promised the Jews under the Balfour Declaration of 1917. By
the 1930’s Antonius was an active anti-Zionist propagandist, and as
such was offered a job at Columbia University (where some things don’t
seem to change much).

      He
served as an academic fig leaf for xenophobic Arab nationalists seeking
to deny Jews any right to self-determination in or migration to the
Land of Israel. And he was closely associated with the Grand Mufti, Hitler’s main Islamic ally, and also with the pro-German regime in Iraq in the early 1940’s.

      Antonius
was so passionately anti-Zionist that he continues to serve as the hero
and mentor of Jewish leftist anti-Zionists everywhere. For example, the
late Hebrew University sociology professor Baruch Kimmerling relied on
Antonius at length in his own pseudo-history, Palestinians: The Making of a People (Free Press, 1993).

So how does Antonius provide us with the answer to the current-events quiz concerning the origin of “nakba”?
The term was not invented in 1948 but rather in 1920. And it was coined
not because of Palestinians suddenly getting nationalistic but because
Arabs living in Palestine regarded themselves as Syrian and were enraged at being cut off from their Syrian homeland.

      Before
World War I, the entire Levant – including what is now Israel, the
“occupied territories,” Jordan, Lebanon and Syria – was comprised of
Ottoman Turkish colonies. When Allied forces drove the Turks out of the
Levant, the two main powers, Britain and France, divided the spoils
between them. Britain got Palestine, including what is now Jordan,
while France got Lebanon and Syria.

      The
problem was that the Palestinian Arabs saw themselves as Syrians and
were seen as such by other Syrians. The Palestinian Arabs were enraged
that an artificial barrier was being erected within their Syrian
homeland by the infidel colonial powers – one that would divide
northern Syrian Arabs from southern Syrian Arabs, the latter being
those who were later misnamed “Palestinians.”

      The
bulk of the Palestinian Arabs had in fact migrated to Palestine from
Syria and Lebanon during the previous two generations, largely to
benefit from the improving conditions and job opportunities afforded by
Zionist immigration and capital flowing into the area. In 1920, both
sets of Syrian Arabs, those in Syria and those in Palestine, rioted
violently and murderously.

On page 312 of The Arab Awakening, Antonius writes, “The year 1920 has an evil name in Arab annals: it is referred to as the Year of the Catastrophe (Am al-Nakba).
It saw the first armed risings that occurred in protest against the
post-War settlement imposed by the Allies on the Arab countries. In
that year, serious outbreaks took place in Syria, Palestine, and Iraq.”

      Yes,
the answer to our little quiz is 1920, not 1948. That’s 1920 – when
there was no Zionist state, no Jewish sovereignty, no “settlements” in
“occupied territories,” no Israel Defense Forces, no Israeli missiles
and choppers targeting terror leaders, and no Jewish control over
Jerusalem (which had a Jewish demographic majority going back at least
to 1850).

      The original “nakba”
had nothing to do with Jews, and nothing to do with demands by
Palestinian Arabs for self-determination, independence and statehood.
To the contrary, it had everything to do with the fact that the
Palestinian Arabs saw themselves as Syrians. They rioted at this nakba – at this catastrophe– because they found deeply offensive the very idea that they should be independent from Syria and Syrians.

      In
the 1920’s, the very suggestion that Palestinian Arabs constituted a
separate ethnic nationality was enough to send those same Arabs out
into the streets to murder and plunder violently in outrage. If they
themselves insisted they were simply Syrians who had migrated to the
Land of Israel, by what logic are the Palestinian Arabs deemed entitled
to their own state today?

      Palestinian
Arabs are no more a nation and no more entitled to their own state than
are the Arabs of Detroit or of Paris. They certainly are not entitled
to four different states: Jordan, Hamastan in Gaza, a PLO state in the
West Bank, and Israel converted into yet another Arab state via the
granting of a “right of return” to Arab refugees.

      Speaking
of Palestinians as Syrians, it is worth noting what one of the early
Syrian nationalists had to say. The following quote comes from the
great-grandfather of the current Syrian dictator, Bashar Assad:

      “Those
good Jews brought civilization and peace to the Arab Muslims, and they
dispersed gold and prosperity over Palestine without damage to anyone
or taking anything by force. Despite this, the Muslims declared holy
war against them and did not hesitate to massacre their children and
women…. Thus a black fate awaits the Jews and other minorities in case
the Mandates are cancelled and Muslim Syria is united with Muslim
Palestine.”

      That
statement is from a letter sent to the French prime minister in June
1936 by six Syrian Alawi notables (the Alawis are the ruling class in
Syria today) in support of Zionism. Bashar’s great-grandfather was one
of them.

Re: Anti-Terror Cops Force Closure of Palestine Exhibition

Your right it’s a goddam Muslim secret conspiracy against civilisation and Australia , womens  rights and all that is good .The  goddam commies have always been  the  Muslims secret allies. .

Evil must be fought .

But the conspiracy is already so entrenched and hidden by  the muslim/commie/liberal  infiltrated press and Amazon books that its already  hard for us to investigate.

Thank you for sneaking through the worldwide censorship and enlightening  us to the true  of the great danger.

All we have to do is find the real plot.  But with things being censored as they are its hard to find the real religious truth.

To see how bad and extensive this censorship really is try searching the internet for  its   basis, the actual book that guided Lenin, Stalin ,Roosevelt Arafat Saddam and even the old Mufti of Jerusalem and Hitler too, not to mention the history of Saladin fighting the good Christian crusaders and all the rest.

Run this search on google.

“The Hidden protocols of the Elders of Islam”

Re: Anti-Terror Cops Force Closure of Palestine Exhibition

If your "Bible" is the blood libel motherlode  of anti-Jewish books---Protocols of the Elders of Zion -- a favorite of Hitler and Ahmadinajad----a fictional book, solely created to advance the pogroms and later the Holocaust----You sir are a world class Jew-hater.

Why don't the DECENT people on this board find out a BIT MORE this fictional blood libel. It might tell them how pickled you are with hate.

I've gotta go now, I have a "secret meeting" to attend, with the Elders. Tonight's topic is "dominating the World"  Next week we have a cooking class, on a new matzoh recipe, using low-sodium children's blood in baking matzoh.

Dominating the world by baking matzoh

You have a great sense of humour, HyGuy. I might get some recipes off
you for my Feeding the Centrelink Bludgers series. Can I make matzoh
for under $1?

Re: Anti-Terror Cops Force Closure of Palestine Exhibition

Here is just one of the many articles on how false and how evil are the roots of the Elders of Zion book. One of Hitler's favorites.

Protocols of the Elders of Zion

"The only statement I care to make about the
Protocols
is that they fit in with what is going on. They are sixteen years old, and they have
fitted the world situation up to this time. They fit it now."
--Henry Ford, 2-17-21,
whose newspaper, the Dearborn Independent, cited the Protocols
as evidence of an alleged Jewish threat until at least 1927

"To what extent the whole existence of this people
is based on a continuous lie is shown incomparably by the
Protocols of the Wise Men of
Zion...." --
Adolph Hitler, Mein Kampf

The Protocols of the Elders of Zion is a forgery made in Russia for the
Okhrana (secret police), which blames the Jews for the country's ills. It was first
privately printed in 1897 and was made public in 1905. It is copied from a nineteenth
century novel by Hermann Goedsche (Biarritz, 1868) and claims that a secret Jewish cabal is plotting
to take over the world.

The basic story was composed by
Goedsche, a German novelist and anti-Semite who used the pseudonym of Sir John Retcliffe. Goedsche stole the main story from
another writer, Maurice Joly, whose Dialogues in Hell Between Machiavelli and
Montesquieu
(1864) involved a Hellish plot aimed at opposing Napoleon III.
Goedsche's original contribution consists mainly of introducing Jews to do the plotting to
take over the world.

The Russians used big chunks of a Russian translation of Goedsche's novel, published it
separately as the Protocols, and claimed they were authentic. Their purpose was
political: to strengthen the czar Nicholas II's position by exposing his opponents as
allies with those who were part of a massive conspiracy to take over the world. Thus, the Protocols
are a forgery of a plagiarized fiction.

The Protocols were exposed as a forgery by Lucien Wolf in The
Jewish Bogey and the Forged Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion

(London: Press Committee of the Jewish Board of Deputies, 1920). In 1921,
Philip Graves, a correspondent for the London Times, publicized the
forgery. Herman Bernstein in The Truth About "The Protocols of
Zion": A Complete Exposure
(1935) also tried and failed to convince
the world of the forgery.

The Protocols were published in 1920 in a Michigan newspaper
started by Henry Ford mainly to attack Jews and Communists. Even
after they were exposed as a forgery, Ford's paper continued to cite the document. Adolf
Hitler later used the Protocols to help justify his attempt to exterminate Jews
during World War II.

The Protocols hoax continues to fool people and is still cited by certain
individuals and groups as the
cause of all their woes.

Protocols hoax

That's interesting, I hadn't heard of that.

Re: Protocols hoax

In your paranoia you missed that joke Hiyguy. You and pye only  read what you expected to see. I wrote the secret protocols of the elders of ISLAMThese secret  “protocols”are  stir up trouble between sunni and shia and about as real as your protocols of Zion. “if you’re into conspiracy theories and your Bible is the “Protocols of the elders of Zion”, you probably know that there’s a sequel to this book, a sort of New Testament: The protocols of the mullahs of Qom. You thought that the Jews were the only ones out there to rule the world. You are wrong, they’re challenged by a much darker forcer, that of the Shiites.
Ask the Syrian born historian Mahmoud Al-Sayyed Al-Dugheim, and he’ll tell you all about it. If you are unable to reach him, check out the interview he gave on al-Jazeera TV a month ago (January 20th). You won’t believe your ears.
