Gulf Stand off: But US aircraft carrier "coffin ship" runs away as Iran tests a new longer range missile.

Bush is attempting  to continuehis "all options on the table threats" in collaboration with partner Israel  ,while perhaps now seeking a face saving compromise deal in secret negotiations with Iranian bourgeiousie's national state  theocracy leadership.

American empire is of course prepared to make deals with the Shia rich bourgeiousie state as well as with the Suni rich as with the  Saudi royal family.

So both war-war and jaw -jaw are being played  out as Bush attempts  to re-position his fleet as back up for land based air forces on new US  bases in Iraq and Afghanistan.

But,Even a stupid gambler knows if he puts all his money on a last big bet ,lose once and its game over.

On the face of it, the imperialist threatened war on Iran   is about uranium enrichment for nukes but this writer believes it is more about preventing the mass production of small "conventional" uranium tipped missile weapons technology, so to retain military backed oil empire in the Middle east. With the shift to emphasising diplomacy and caution now starkly increasing since Bush received a report from Nth Korea on all its nuclear activities bush apparently shit in his pants and then  quickly declared a national emergency.

Since then-  Washington has  been putting out semi-official comments that Israel is short of the intelligence and military capability for striking Iran without help.(see below)

And now we see  one of its most modern aircraft carriers creating a huge wake in a sudden rush out of the gulf.

Iran has successfully test-fired new long- and medium-ranged missiles in response to threats coming from Washington and Tel Aviv.

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps tested the Shahab 3 missile, which can hit any targets within a range of 2,000 kilometers on the second day of a military exercise dubbed The Great Prophet III.

Shahab 3 is equipped with a one-ton conventional warhead.

Nine highly advanced missiles with improved accuracy were simultaneously tested including the Zelzal and Fateh missiles with ranges of 400km and 170km respectively .

US relocates warship after Iran warning

The Pentagon has moved an aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf after Iran warned US ships would come under fire if they attack the country.

A US Navy official speaking on condition of anonymity said Tuesday that the US Naval Forces Central Command moved the USS Abraham Lincoln to the Arabian Sea.

"This is not a move in preparation for an attack on Iran. We're simply repositioning the capabilities to support the commanders on the ground down there," AFP quoted the unnamed official as saying.

The announcement came shortly after Iran warned Tuesday that should Israel and the US attack the country, they would end up burning in the flames of the fire they ignited.

"If Washington and Tel Aviv are foolish enough to even consider attacking Iran, our initial response would be to target Israel and set the US navy in the Persian Gulf ablaze," said the Leader's representative to the IRGC naval forces Ali Shirazi.

This is while Washington and Tel Aviv continue to beat the drums of war against Iran over its nuclear program, accusing the country of developing a nuclear bomb.

Tel Aviv has threatened Tehran with the use of force should the Islamic Republic continue uranium enrichment.

It is observed by many that the puppet govt  installed in Iraq is Shia dominated. Some opposition by Sunni elements is believed to be financed by Saudi sunni reactionaries.

A pro-Israeli website says secret negotiations U$ -Iran :

Behind the saber-rattling, however, DEBKA-Net-Weekly's sources reported common ground was covered for three key objectives:

1. The American side was willing to refrain from military action against Iran before the end of the Bush presidency in January 2009, but could not promise Israel would not act unilaterally. In a bid to hold Israel's hand, sources in Washington have been putting out semi-official comments that Israel is short of the intelligence and military capability for striking Iran without help.

2. Iran undertook to open the way for the US military to continue to go from strength to strength in fighting al Qaeda and the Sunni guerrilla insurgents in Iraq, to allow President Bush to claim his Iraq campaign had ended successfully before leaving the White House. DEBKAfile's military sources report that Tehran ordered Iranian intelligence officers working undercover in Iraq to halt attacks on US troops by pro-Iranian militias, including Moqtada Sadr's Mehdi Army.

This has left US and Iraqi government force with free hands for large-scale operations against al Qaeda.

Iranian officers are also sharing useful intelligence on conditions in the field with American commanders.

3. In the background of the secret dialogue is the Bush administration's ambition to help fellow-Republican Senator John McCain get elected to the White House.

DEBKAfile's Iran experts comment that the revolutionary regime in Tehran has traditionally preferred a Republican over a Democrat in the White House since the days when its founder, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, helped Ronald Reagan defeat Jimmy Carter.

Some of these understandings are still work in progress, but the oil price ceiling of $150 was definitely agreed and resulted in the sharp fall in prices Tuesday, July 6 by $3.92 a barrel. Some traders attributed it to an ease in geopolitical tensions related to Iran's nuclear program and a strengthening US dollar.
