Juanita Nielsen: The Silent Conspiracy
Next year will bring the 33rd anniversary of the murder of Kings Cross newspaper publisher Juanita Nielsen. It will also mark another year in the silent conspiracy of corruption that surrounds what may have been the crime of the century in NSW.
When Tony Reeves and I began our journalistic investigation back in 1975 we described it as the story of a lifetime, then The Story That Won't Go Away. For three decades we've been rebuffed in our attempts to force a commission of inquiry, to expose the truth behind this sordid tale of police and political corruption, of betrayal and heinous brutality.
But the story hasn't gone away, and neither have I -- although I was forced to leave Australia because of my activities.
The story surfaced again recently with the publication of a book by a Canberra journalist who claimed to have found a witness with new evidence. I wrote a critique showing that his book was merely an extension of the official version of events, the cover-up, and e-mailed it to all of the Sydney media.
Even though I am well known to most of them, and the fact that my critique contained some astonishing facts, only one editor bothered to reply and that to tell me that he preferred the police story!
This shouldn't really have surprised me. Our erstwhile colleagues in the Sydney media have long been not merely ambivalent but antagonistic in their approach to this story and to Tony and I.
Orchestrated by the PR Dept of the NSW Police, they have accepted the official version of events without the slightest attempt at corroboration. Even though they all reviewed the book in question they wouldn't consider my critique of it, just as they ignored a major story that touched upon the case back in 1975.
Let me explain. In the course of our investigation Tony and I traced Eddie Trigg, the last person said to have seen Juanita alive. Within minutes we had been beaten up, abducted and handed over the Darlinghurst Police who threw us into jail for the night. "A good yarn," we agreed, when the goose bumps had abated. There was more good copy to come.
We pleaded not guilty to the spurious charge of being found drunk in Darlinghurst and, thanks to two pro bono barristers, fought the case as it lasted eight days over as many months. The charge was eventually dismissed but not before the case, which also involved two QC's on "watching briefs" for unidentified clients, had set two legal precedents. Another good yarn, we agreed. The transcript ran to 520 pages and 175,000 words.
But not one of those words was reported by the Sydney media. Like our allegations surrounding the killing of Juanita, the story was ignored. It might never have happened. No one wants to know the truth about all of this. My rationale is that the political implications are too far-reaching, too dangerous. That, though, doesn't explain the shameful attitude of Sydney's journalists. They are a disgrace to the calling that Tony and I love.
Somehow, though, I shall get the truth into the public domain. This story is not going to go away.
If you'd care to read my critique and get an insight into what Tony and I achieved you can do so courtesy of the only branch of the Sydney media not afraid to run it.
It was published without question by Fiona Prior on the Henry Thornton current affairs website. There's not been a whimper of response from anywhere.... Read it by clicking on to the hyperlink below: No, there was no response to it, legally or officially…….

To answer your question, pleas see m y latest posting on indymemdia.

Juanita Nielsen
Yes, it was shocking. I remember it well though I was young.
Juanita Nielsen: The Silent Conspiracy .......Eureka
Barry Ward. Good stuff !
Juanita Nielsen should be part of the catch cry of activist who fight the big end of town and the governments support of what could easily be identified as vandalism conducted under the provisions of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act.
At one point in time my letters to those presiding in the Downing Centre Courts were addressed to the Juanita Nielsen Centre ( Downing Centre Courts) Sydney. It is my understanding that Juanita was airess to the Mark Foys fortune and that court prescient was Mark Foys building an important part of her family estate . And in my mind when I read Downing Centre , I understand Juanita Nielsen. Centre
We readers and named contributors cant speak too highly of the free internationally linked media outlet we all have access to , right here on line at sydney, indymedia !
Those who under stand the intransigence of the bought and paid for media , know exactly what it is you write about. Reporters , not all certainly , but too many ! Are not that different to paid mercenaries. It comes as no revelation that so many having climbed the media tree as word smiths. Find themselves attracted to the position of media officer to one or another politician.

Re: Juanita Nielsen: The Silent Conspiracy
In reply to those readers who questioned the motivation for Juanita's murder: she was assassinated for what she was about to publish on organised crime and corruption. The Victoria Street project was a red herring, one of many with which this case abounds.
Such as the "advertising appointment" at the Carousel Cabaret, officially her final sighting. This never happened: She despised Saffron and Anderson and wouldn't do business with them. More, Tony Reeves and I traced a witness who knew Juanita well and saw her, on foot in public, a good two hours after her last official sighting. We told the cops but they didn't want to know....
They took three weeks to interview our witness and the following day released the utterly incongruous photograph of Juanita alledgedly wearing a red leather coat over a tangerine sweater, with her hair at shoulder length under a floppy beret. This was an outfit no one had ever seen before, even her mother.
"The police have completely ignored what I told them That's not what she was wearing at all," our witness told us. "She was wearing a boucle coat and a fur hat, an outfit I had often admired."
The reason for the duplicity? To create confusion among people who may have seen Juanita on the way to her date with death, to obfuscate her final sighting. We traced several who told us that they thought they had seen Juanita that day "but she wasn't wearing a red leather coat so I must have seen her the day before..."
But our female witness had good reason to remember the day and the date. "I was going to a friend's wedding that evening and was en route to the hairdresser when I saw Juanita a few seconds before noon," she said.
We traced the hairdresser and confirmed this in his appointments book, something the cops didn't think of doing.... Or did they? When we tried to interview the hairdresser again he said he had misplaced his appointments book and said he couldn't help us further.
"Can't or won't?" we asked
"People like me are very susceptible," he said. "You two should know what I mean..."
We tried to float this story with our erstwhile colleagues of the Sydney Press but, once again, they ignored us...
Hitler said anyone could buy the media. What he didn't say was how cheap they were...

Re: Juanita Nielsen: The Silent Conspiracy
I am currently researching my fathers' involvement in this & other notorious mysteries. My father Allan William Honeysett is still alive & I am interested in corresponding with Barry Ward & Tony Reeves. Thank you. My e-mail addy is cheeky1968@optusnet.com.au.
Private investigator
Allan Honeysett is a private investigator. I wouldn't want anyone to think he did anything wrong in this.
Re: Juanita Nielsen: The Silent Conspiracy
There is no suggestrion that Allan Honeysett was criminally involved in the Nielsen murder. Quite the reverse. He gave Tony Reeves and I valuable information that assisted us in our inquiries and contributed to soling the case.
I'm delighted to hear that he is still with us. I hope he's enjoying life somewhere pleasant. If you know him please pass on my warm regards, I'm sure he will remember our visit.

Re: Juanita Nielsen: The Silent Conspiracy
i have just finished reading Tony Reeves book "Mr Sin" and was astounded to read about my uncle's peripheral involvement in Jaunita's disappearance. It explained his & my cousin Arty's long sentences for the bank robbery in Coolah, a place he was well known in and Arty grew up in. After much surfing i found this site & you seem to have known him too. This is the first time I have heard him described as a private investigator.
The fact that he was involved in this particular case amazes me considering the type of life my uncle lived.
Lets hope that one day you do make a breakthrough with this case, as i remember it well.
Re: Juanita Nielsen: The Silent Conspiracy
Readers wishing for an insight into this subject should read a novel by Barry Ward.
It tells of an investigation by two Sydney journalists into the case of a crusading newspaper publisher named Anita Nelson, who was murdered for what she was about to publish on organised crime and police and political corruption.
It has great similarity to the Nielsen case -- some might say it is the true story -- and the fact that the author was one of the two journalists involved in the Nielsen investigation lends a certain credence to this.....
"The first version of the book was written 33 years ago," Ward said, "but no Sydney publisher would look at it. The story is simply too big, the political implications too far-reaching. But digital self-publishing has enabled me to finally publish it."
It eventually saw the light of day on 4 July 2008, 33 years to the day since Juanita was murdered by a former detective of the NSW Police and two nightclub bouncers at The Lido Motel, Kings Cross
"Juanita's remains were never discovered," says Ward, "nor will they be. Her body was destroyed minutes after the killing. Other versions of her disappearance are simply part of the cover-up and the conspiracy behind it."
The book may be found at www.lulu.com/category23, then in the search bar type in The Nelson Conspiracy.
Re: Juanita Nielsen: The Silent Conspiracy
I'M 12 YEARS OLD AND I'M DOING A PROJECT ON JUANITA I THINK IT'S JIM ANDERSON AND EDDIE ALSO FRANK!
Re: Juanita Nielsen: The Silent Conspiracy
In reply to the youngster writing a project on Juanita:
You are on the right track. Both Anderson and Trigg were involved in our abduction and arrest, the fictitious "advertising appointment" was said to have taken place at The Carousel Cabaret, where Anderson was the General Manager and Trigg was the Night Manager with whom Juanita was said to have kept the advertising appointment. Both establishments are/were owned by the Saffron organisation.
The murder actually happened at another establishment owned by Saffron and managed by Anderson. Juanita was tricked into going there and this is where she was headed when she was seen by our witness (see above) two hours after the final sighting in the official version of events, the cover-up.
Anderson and Trigg were involved in the conspiracy but not the actual killing. There were three killers, one a former detective sergeant of the NSW Police and two casino bouncers. Tony Reeves and I gave this information to the investigating detectives but they ignored it, just as they ignored all the evidence we discovered. I leave you to guess why..... but it may have something to do with the fact that after 33 years the murder is still unsolved.....
In the book by the Canberrra journalist (see above) it is claimed that Loretta Crawford saw Trigg at the murder scene, in the storeroom of The Carousel, standing over Juanita's body with her killer nearby. This is not so, as Tony and I can prove, but the police appear to have taken no action on this, even though some of them have praised the book..... What do you make of this?
You say a person named Frank was also involved. Which Frank is this and why do you think so?

We do not really have to guese why.
Even official royal commisions have sinse documented and exposed the everyday corruption of the police and the government criminals in charge of collecting the brown bag money from all the rorts from booze to drugs ,as wel aslcontrolingall the investigations since ,with the similar investigations into police crimes like the Hilton bombing.
The rulers of society have their drug police and their political police even if they officialy "disbanded "the "SPECIAL BRANCH" BOMB PLANTING SQUAD.
IT RE-EMERGES AGAIN AS THE "ANTI -TERRORIST" POLITICAL POLICE UNITS,NOW VISITING LEICHARDT COUNCIL LIBARIES AND THE LIKE BIN LADEN HANGOUTS.
Re: Juanita Nielsen: The Silent Conspiracy
While it contains some of my material published above, the last posting (immediately above this) is nothing to do with me. I don't understand what the author is trying to say. It is drivel. Please ignore it in terms of the Nielsen conspiracy.
