McGinty 'should apologise' for paedophile joke
The Western Australian Opposition is demanding the
state's Attorney-General, Jim McGinty, apologise after he joked that
"paedophiles vote Liberal".
Mr McGinty made the joke during a media conference, on legislation
he introduced this week, which gives some prisoners the right to vote.
He then told reporters not to run his comment.
Shadow Attorney-General Christian Porter says the joke is incredibly offensive to anyone who has ever voted Liberal.
"It's seriously one of the more bizarre things that I've heard in my time here," he said.
"Albeit, there have been many bizarre things, and it really warrants an apology.
"If that was a brain snap then let's have an apology because that's not good enough."
