Surf-and-turf police jaunt costs $40,000

Jordan Baker Chief Police Reporter
May 17, 2008
THE
NSW Police Minister, David Campbell, and two of his staff spent $40,000
on a 12-day, five-star, surf-and-turf romp across the United States,
splashing out on steakhouses in Hollywood and oyster bars in New York.

Receipts
from the trio's study tour also reveal the minister's taste for Evian
water from the mini-bar - at $US5.40 ($5.80) a bottle - and his
fastidious grooming: Mr Campbell racked up a $US255 laundry, grooming
and ironing bill.

The minister, his
chief of staff, Ryan Park, and the director-general of the Ministry for
Police, Les Tree, began their trip on January 30 when they flew
business class to Los Angeles, documents obtained under
freedom-of-information laws show.

In
New York they slept at the Le Parker Meridien, just off Central Park,
which cost $US450 a night per person. In Washington they stayed at the
Hyatt, and in Los Angeles it was the Omni on Bunker Hill.

Their
official engagements included briefings by the New York Police
Department on Tasers, gangs, terrorism, identity theft and
radicalisation; meetings with the FBI in Washington; and a visit to the
Davis Training Facility in California.

But
there was free time, too, including a weekend in New York. On Sunday,
February 3 - also Super Bowl day in Arizona - one of the party visited
the Museum of Modern Art and charged his bruschetta and coffee to
taxpayers. That evening they dined not far from the hotel at Ben
Benson's Steak House, which was described by the magazine New York as an eatery that has "long fed hordes of hungry, beef-eating businessmen and the people who love them".

They finished the meal at 9.15 and left a $US50 tip, bringing the bill for three people to $US336.

The
night before, they ate at the cheaper Famous Oyster Bar, described by
one blogger as having a neon seafood sign that "suggested it catered to
tourists who are looking for something a bit better than red lobster".
Dinner set taxpayers back $US227.

In
Los Angeles they splurged $US363 on a dinner at the Palm in Hollywood,
known for its steaks, and in Washington it was a more modest $US210 on
seafood and steak at the Monocle on Capitol Hill.

Perhaps
they discussed politics with the members of Congress, staff and
lobbyists who frequent the restaurant. They were there on February 5,
which is better remembered in the United States as Super Tuesday. In
total they spent the equivalent of about $40,000 - about $25,000 on
flights and $15,000 on hotels and food.

Mr
Campbell said he travelled to the US to visit front-line police and see
"cutting edge crime fighting tactics" first hand. The minister said he
brought back strategies to improve customer service.

Mr Campbell said he was briefed on a variety of police operational tactics.

As
a result, NSW will adopt the Compliance Status Information System, a US
crime measurement tool. The visit was "in accordance with … government
guidelines", he said.

My rebutttal

I am sorry to ask indy media readers to bounce over to where I've responded on Dads on the Air but there are about 3 or 4 other issues I'm also attacking David Campbell.

Including my involvement in helping set up the Regional Commander to sack the Senior Police in Surry Hills for not doing enough about a gay bashing incident.

David Campbell was on radio recently for another corruption scandal involving his mum and ICAC, not like the one the month before with another woman in his life Beth Morgan who was found guilty of using sex to get development approvals. Obviously he said she's no longer a close friend anymore.

Now this, it just gets better and better.

My links here to get more details on what I'm raving about.

P.S. Hi David! I can't beleive I voted for you in local council elections all those years ago just after turning 18. I guess people are young and dumb around then.

This post brought to you by a Police corruption whistleblower, the only in Australian history accused of beaching 60C of the crimes act. The Crime of LISTENING to personal information about a Lesbian Police officer that would support charges against her. Again it's all on DOTA (Dads on the Air's radio show's unoffical forum) also getting airtime on 2GB.

NOT Dave Campbell!

Excuse me! Dave has been married to his wife Enid for about 35 years. Please correct this. He has NOT been sleeping with Beth Morgan. (Maybe everyone else has, and who cares, I hope they had fun).

Re: N.S.W. Police Minister's Junket

Look. Can't you read between the lines.

I never said he was doing her, I saw him on national TV saying that she was at least an aquaitanace or former friend that he KNEW when working at Wollongong council. Do I have to go dig up the footage and link to it? Just tell me and I will!

I can't believe voted for the prick when he was in Wollongong Council, because my family were historically Labor voters.

http://forum.dadsontheair.com/viewtopic.php?p=79824#79824

Here's my latest post about him. He thinks it's ok to accuse me under cop killer law, the first person in Australian history to be accused under the inditable version of this law (yet, they are enacting it retrospectively to get a PIC informant into Police corruption from in 2003 - on how they were taking a cut of poker machine money!)

Do you think I'm going to be Polite to someone who's trying to get me killed or cover up Police persecution of a whistleblower?

David Campbell has a Taser Party too!

 Post #1:

If I come back to Australia I'm thinking of holding taser parties of my own.

I talked about my intent to do this here
if the Police got access to them. I'm in possession of a US magazine
bought at an Australian news agency telling people how to build their
own Tesla coil weapons.

I'm thinking I could do experiments here where tasers are illegal
and publish a DIY instructions to make a compact and effective version
of such a device, but to be honest right now such an endeavour is at
the bottom of my to-do hobbies list, but the day will come.

After a death threat was levelled against my family I *may* have
come into contact with one of these toys, a nice Japanese made one that
looked like a torch. Then again I may not have... Giving confirmation
of this is admitting to a crime, but in any case I'd be just as guilty
as the former police minister Carl Sculley was using it without a
license in Parliament (see above link for the details). Also why would
a person need to get a taser if they were not threatened for being a
corruption informant. David
Campbell talking with his mate Ray Hadley when he was attacked for
selling out a whistle-blower says "... whistle-blowers need to be
protected"
. Clearly he's full of it on that one. Only my family
knows the truth about this and they won't be talking. So have a nice
day piggies.

NSW Police (Senior Officers) were given access to tasers too.

http://video.msn.com/video.aspx?mkt=en-AU&brand=ninemsn&vid=aea434cc-876c-46fc-b531-1264e1310ceb

Now all the weak little officers want to get tasers too. Imagine
how much of a disaster that will be when a man is distraught about
being falsely accused of DV for material gain and get's zapped as per
Police training. Don't find it surprising when Police are trained to always try and do an electronically recorded interview, even though insisting on it breeches the Law (LEPRA Act), or the video here how railway guards are trained to assault someone who isn't resisting. The prequels to that are here and here..They
nearly arrested me just for taking a photo of 12 of them lined up at
Redfern doing nothing. The Police will be able to say he's "was so
violent" that we saw fit to zap him which will occur most of the time.
It's not hard to believe seeing the length some feminist officers will
go to to help a woman out, even if they are a criminal facing
deportation such as in my case.

Just look what happened to Wayne Carey with a hysterical ex up at
his place. The Cops spayed him even though he's partying with her in
Thailand now.

 Post #2:

No doubt he was also checking out tasers over there. I wonder if he
should look into the Police oversight system there. You don't get 5
years jail for having a cup of coffee with a mate and hearing dirt on a
dyke cop over there in America. That's a uniquely Australian custom,
and that's why they are going to have a hell of a problem extraditing
me unless they can think of new crimes I allegedly did whilst being in
Australia, let's say 3rd time a charm guys?

What were they scared of? Someone plotting to kill the lesbian
criminal police officer? Who does a FOI application and goes to the
Anti-Discrimination] board then plans to do harm outside the legal
system? I'm a Sydney Grammar Oldboy[tm]? What else would a rich snob
do? Sue your ass! damn right! If you believe the crap in the dodgy search warrant your an idiot in my opinion.

In the states you pay your court fees and you get a list of everyone who complained against a Police officer in what's called a pitchess motion - cited also@Wikipedia and CalStateLaw for the legal eagles reading the forum..

http://www.calstate.edu/gc/Docs/Pitchess_Motions.doc

I wish he learnt about that on his trip to California as I did. The
courts over there would give you the name of everyone who complained
against a lesbian discriminator, not throw you in jail for getting
lucky taking to someone already in your circle of friends like I did.

I've gotta plug myself pissing him off with these posts here and here.
Keep an eye on the first links and second links because David Campbell
has something more in common with the other guests on Ray Hadley's talk
show the same day. Leagues club bosses are forced to report their costs
of overseas trips to inspect Poker Machines, which invariably end up in
Las Vegas. St Mary's Rugby Leagues where I used to work admit in their annual report according to new reporting requirements to stop the corruption that I used to witnessed there that in 2005 they spent 85,000 on overseas trips to study gambling

Back on the taser front, I want to see if I can be retrospectively
found guilty before the laws exists against tasers put in jail for
buying and redistributing a magazine I bought as a Stanwell Park
teenager from the local newsagent when I was 14 years old on how to
make legal [US] taser weapons. Should be about as easy to make with
stuff from Jaycar or Altronics (WA users) as the other electrical shock
weapon which is not banned for use in Australia, the Scientology's E-Meter (some versions shock) mentioned here on DOTA!

Isn't there an approval procedure cited in the Mental Health Act to use
electroshock therapy? Does that mean those Scientology wankers believe
that their normal followers are mentally retarded or are they just
using an illegial weapon. Take a pick.

Should be fun.... I taser party, you taser party we all taser party.
