Open letter to Auckland Police
The following is an open letter written to Brett England, a "District Commander Superintendent" of the Auckland Police.
Dear Brett,
I am not a New Zealand citizen, I live in Australia. However, I am
concerned at media reports that the Auckland City Police is going to try to
prevent New Zealand citizens from making a legitimate arrest, thereby
expressing complete contempt for the rule of law.
In theory, the role of the police is not to protect certain elites over
others, but to defend the rule of law and ensure that everybody is equal
under it, whether they be homeless, students, Prime Ministers or visiting
foreign politicians.
For the Auckland City Police to attempt to prevent a citizen's arrest on
Condoleeza Rice based on the fact that they have been hired to offer her
private protection is to show a complete lack of respect for due process
and the separation of powers. It is not up to the Auckland City Police to
prejudicially act in place of the courts and judiciary, but to ensure that
the law is upheld.
I most sincerely hope that the media reports I have heard are false, and
that New Zealand police will stick to doing their jobs, rather than
intervening in the political process.
(Signed)
Note: I am not under any illusion that the "rule of law" has any legitimacy in a country which has attempted to steal sovereignty by stealth, or that the police are there to protect "the community", or that "due process", arrests and court systems further in any way the cause of justice. I only wrote this letter to highlight the absurd contradictions and hypocrisy that statism reveals.
