Scientology attempts to disrupt planned protest using human rights front-group

Sydney, March 14, 2008

Sydney police have notified protest planners that a Scientology front group may be planning to disrupt a demonstration by "Anonymous" scheduled to occur tomorrow against human rights abuses and harmful practices of the Church of Scientology. A police contact stated that an application for a protest permit has been lodged by a representative of "Youth for Human Rights Australia," with the exact same timing and location as the previously planned protest against Scientology's abuses. The Church of Scientology is the major sponsor of Youth for Human Rights Australia. The new permit suggests approximately 50 people will be involved in the counter-protest.

The Church of Scientology based in Clearwater, Florida recently filed multiple petitions for a temporary injunction to prevent the protests. A judge has since rejected these applications.

Anonymous continues to call for peaceful protest behaviour and individuals have been instructed to comply with all police requests, in the hope that the incident-free record of the February 10 worldwide protests will be maintained. However, prominent Scientology critic Arnie Lerma has passed on information from a Church of Scientology insider who alleges that a March 11 meeting coordinated by Scientology's Office of Special Affairs concluded with a plan to provoke a confrontation and choreograph a violent incident. In Los Angeles and Clearwater, Scientologists have been instructed to bring their children to an event coinciding with planned protests at these locations.

"Youth for Human Rights Australia" drew media attention last year when students complained the organization uses deceptive tactics. link to Sydney Morning Herald report

Staging a protest 2 days before?

SCRAMBLE SCRAMBLE SCRAMBLE!

Re: Scientology attempts to disrupt planned protest using human

What else could you expect from these people? Their attempts will only further the cause of Anonymous.

Re: Scientology attempts to disrupt planned protest using human

Mass media needs to be aware of this in advance.

Re: Scientology attempts to disrupt planned protest using human

This is absolutely consitent with the Church of Scientology's previous attempts to silence or defame its critics.  On one hand, the Church of Scientology has been complaining loudly in Florida courts that the Anonymous group is threatening to bomb churches and assisinate its leadership (among many other baseless claims), and on the other hand they're scheduling simultaneous protests at the same time and place to this threat?

How totally absurd and transparent.  I'm glad the Florida courts recognized their obvious attempt to squelch freedom of speech and freedom of assembly by denying all of the motions they have filed.

If anyone doubts that the Church of Scientology resorts to this sort of underhanded behavior -- routinely -- Google: "operation freakout".  Same deal.  Fake bomb threats that the Church of Scientology sent to themselves to try to fame Paulette Cooper, an author who wrote a highly-critical book about them.  The FBI nailed them on that one -- and I have no doubt whatsoever they'll get nailed for trying it again.

No wonder people are hitting the streets to protest this cult.

s

Scientology makes me sick, go anonymous dismantle the cult.

Re: human rights front-group

ONLY a cult of the sickest caliber would use children fighting for "Human Rights" to hide and protect something so hypocritically the opposite of what they say.

Re: Scientology attempts to disrupt planned protest using human

Another day, another foot-bullet. Scientology keeps demonstrating that most, if not all of Anonymous's claims are true, and that practices such as Fair Game and bullbaiting continue to be performed.

3/15 will proceed as planned, and will be peaceful on the part of Anon. If any trouble should occur on the part of any protestor, they shall be pointed out and brought to the proper authorities.

Scientology

Wow the Co$ is using children to hide their child labor charges O.o great....

have caused quite the stir

Our own beliefs and perspectives makes everything messy. Achieving the country goal is not easy.  Sometimes, there is conflict of interest among the people, government and economy. All of us want to have peaceful and organized society in which the community is task-focused and well-behaved. The government itself directs and leads the nation towards prosperity. We are in a topsy-turvy world. Due to races differences, cultures of every country and economic condition we can not achieve total world peace. There are some people who are making disturbance and terrorism for their own interests.  Katie Holmes 30th birthday recently, and in those three decades she has done quite a bit. However, his adherence to Scientology and his behavior have caused quite the stir. Films she has been in have won Golden Globes and Oscars, as well as a few flops. You can't deny her work ethic though. She has quite the resume for a 30 year old, and the couple has been celebrating all week.
