Get off Rudd and get some perspective
Posted July 9th, 2008 by Anonymous"The Labor Government stands behind motorists and consumers, the Liberal Opposition is standing behind the major oil companies." Kevin Rudd
Rudd's popularity is plummeting mainly due to the rising cost of fuel, yet he's still streaks ahead of his opposing leader, Liberal's Brendan Nelson. If the Coalition's best attack on the PM's first year in office relies on rising fuel prices, Rudd should rest easy.

Thousands march in Sydney Despite Heavy Police Presence and Intimidation
Posted September 8th, 2007 by Anonymous
Several thousand gathered outside the Sydney Town Hall between 9.30 and
10 am to protest against Bush, the war in Iraq and the Asia Pacific
Economic Co-operation (APEC) forum leaders meeting. There was a heavy
police presence with George, Pitt and Castlereagh streets barricaded by
Police buses and police lining the Park street route to Hyde Park
North. Despite the heavy police presence and provocation the rally and
march was largely peaceful.

Video: Bums Not Bombs - a cheeky protest against Bush and War
Posted September 8th, 2007 by Vera07.09.2007 - Around 50 people have bared their bottoms in protest against APEC and the visiting US President George W Bush. A group calling themselves 'Bums for Bush' exposed themselves in Sydney's Hyde Park during a protest rally this afternoon (07.09.2007). Organiser Will Saunders says its a fun and Australian way to get the anti-Iraq war message across.
Organiser Will Saunders said the Friday protest was aimed at lightening the mood in Sydney, a city patrolled by 5000 police and soldiers and divided by a massive steel and concrete fence ahead of the APEC summit.
Police have said they expect violence during a series of protests against the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit which will gather together 21 leaders from around the world.
"There's this heaviness about the protests,'' Mr Saunders said.
"It's hoped to make the point that protests don't have to be these terribly heavy serious things."
Will Saunders was one of the two people who painted NO WAR on the Sydney Opera House just days before the Invasion of IRAQ in 2003.

Climate Change too hot for Bush and Howard
Posted September 6th, 2007 by Vera

Two ice sculptures of Australian Prime Minister John Howard and President George Bush are touring round Sydney during the APEC forum slowly melting in the sun as a reminder of the impact of climate change and the failure of these two leaders to ratify the Kyoto Protocol or set firm target for greenhouse gas reduction.
The ice sculptures (watch video) were made for Make Poverty History – a coalition of more than 60 aid agencies, community groups and religious organisations – to highlight its report on 'APEC: An End to Extreme Poverty – An Alternative APEC Agenda.' (PDF 1.1MB)
