I thought I would do my bit to post this news on here, seeing the original website has been taken out of google indexes and any pages that link to this site.

The Bill Henson ‘Art versus Porn’ drama of the past few weeks seems to have come to an end. His photographs of nude children have been deemed not an offence under child pornography laws. In the intensity of debate positions were expressed quickly and simply, often at the expense of subtlety of argument. I suspect many people are still suspicious that ‘art’ has been given special treatment.

Electronic Frontiers Australia (EFA) has launched nocleanfeed.com as part of the campaign against Labors planed compulsory Internet censorship for all Australian homes and schools.  The censorship plans are shrouded in secrecy but will involve a massive federal government blacklist of website (both legal and illegal) that Internet Service Providers (eg Telstra, Optus and iiNet) would be forced to block Australian Internet users from accessing.  The proposed system has been compared to the Great Firewall of China used by the communist government to track users and prevent them from accessing news site such as bbc news, wikipedia and websites of human rights and religious organisations.

On April 8, 'alternative news service' Mathaba News Network sent a nasty letter to distribute it, "one of the largest and fastest growing auDA, NZ and ICANN-accredited registrars in Australia". That is, a company which provides, among other services, access to domain names. In this case, anarchobase.com. The subject of their complaint was a post on my blog, slackbastard, formerly hosted by anarchobase.

Brazil: Governor Roberto Requião responds Ajufe's note and calls censorship's judge for debate.

Brazil: prior censorship against Paraná State's governor is absolutely reprehensible.

The
president of the National Federation of Journalists (Fenaj), Sergio
Murillo de Andrade, ranked as "absolutely reprehensible" the court
decision that establishes prior censorship in Radio and Television
Paraná Educativa.

"The decision of Magistrate Lippmann Edgar Junior is
absolutely reprehensible. This is a case of prior censorship, something
that Fenaj condemns totally, "he said".
