World Catholic Youth Day a waste of money, affront to open democracy and the separation of church and state, says NSW Humanists

NSW Humanists President John August, argues The World Catholic Youth Day is no merely private affair. It is rather a diversion of public funds which has been deliberately held outside public scrutiny. It is an affront to the separation of church and state, transparency, and the general operation of democracy.

The Western Australian Government ordered armed Perth Police troops to raid the Sunday Times newspaper office. The State Police forces were ordered to recover materials related to Government corruption, which the the Sunday Times had exposed.

Friday 4 of April at twelve noon outside the office of the Member for Gosford, Marie Andrews, in Blackwall Road, Woy Woy.

My mother is not too bad for 82, but she is over-conscientious when it comes to Centrelink. Although I have warned her never to give them information they have not asked for, over the last few months, she has recounted to me a number of conversations with the 'lovely people' at Centrelink in which she explained that she had withdrawn a couple of thousand dollars here and there from her managed fund for home repairs. Apparently they thanked her very much for her information and told her it would be no problem.

I am a recipient of a Centrelink disability pension. I have to
report my income every 2 weeks online, and sign an online declaration
relating to any salary earned by ticking a box.

Rudds government plans to use  the desperate need for cheaper housing to subsidise capitalist investors and "skills shortages" as excuses to expand the importation of more indentured workers for the construction industry.

I see the medical misfortune of Phil Koperberg reported as bleeding ulcers, reported to be the result of worries brought about by the publics scrutiny of his past alleged sins against women.    I pray his woes will with some luck result in a Blue Mountains by election!

Short documentary on the engineering of a water crisis by Gov/Corp via an unsustainable timber industry in the Yarra Valley Australia, which supplies Melbourne's water. Aimed not at the loggers for they are slaves to banks and debt like everyone else.

I was working with disabled clients in a large residential centre run by Dept Community Services (DoCS) as a registered nurse in the 1990's.
My job was to provide safe and appropriate nursing care and to be an
advocate on their behalf and protect them from physical, emotional, and
mental abuse.

Another nightmare is unfolding tonight as a series of storm cells have created havoc along rail lines.

The
horror began at 5.30pm, peak hour, when lightning caused damage to rail
infrastructure between Wollongong and Waterfall. Buses were brought in,
but 'extensive damage' to communications system caused delays as
commuters waited at stations in pouring rain.
