Strata unit clothes drying law is greenhouse silliness
Posted March 9th, 2008 by Anonymous
NSW
unit and townhouse dwellers are being forced to contribute to global
warming by a state government law that encourages body corporates to
ban the hanging of washing where it can be seen, according to Greens
NSW MP John Kaye.
Commenting on a story on page 8 of today's
Sun-Herald, Dr Kaye said: "Residents without the opportunity to hang
their laundry out to dry are left with no alternative but to use
electric dryers.
"While natural sunshine provides free solar
power to dry clothes, the average electric-powered unit is responsible
for almost a half a tonne of carbon dioxide each year.

Suburbs Sacrificed for Massive 24/7 Logistics Centre
NSW Greens MP and spokesperson on Planning, Sylvia Hale, today condemned the approval by
Planning Minister Sartor of the Intermodal Logistics Centre next to the former
Enfield Railway Marshalling Yards. "The centre will operate seven days a
week, 24 hours a day," said Ms Hale, "in the process handling more than 300,000
six-metre long containers every year," said Ms Hale.
